That's what Raheem Kassam calls the verdict in the Trump-Carrol case.
The awarding of nearly $90 million to the second-rate advice columnist E. Jean Carroll will doubtless be remembered for generations as the greatest miscarriage of justice in contemporary American history. Jean Carroll’s case was not just ludicrous on the face of it, but between the judge, the “experts” who testified, and the mechanisms by which the case even came to be, it’s impossible for any ordinary person in the West to see this as anything more than the continuation of a series of hoaxes perpetrated on former President Donald J. Trump with the desire to keep him from re-entering the Oval Office in January 2025.

Show trials like this are not commonplace in the Western world. But it happened in New York in 2024. And everyone should be wary. If someone can accuse Trump, without evidence, of a crime committed 30 years ago. If the judge demands Trump may not defend himself. If they can get away with a wildly arbitrary number concocted by a lawyer trying to repair her own reputation, and an overtly partisan “expert” who admits no real-world experience in her supposed field of expertise – all against one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world. Well, then, think about what they can do to you.

If you haven't followed the trial, you really need to read Kassam's summation. It shows very clearly how "lawfare" is being used against President Trump at every turn, to try to frustrate his efforts to be re-elected.
I'm not a particular fan of President Trump, and never have been. Nevertheless, I have to acknowledge that he's not just fighting for public opinion, but against the entire legal and administrative system of this country, both of which appear to have been hijacked by his opponents to block him from ever again holding office.
Will they succeed? Your guess is as good as mine . . . but President Trump is putting up the best fight he can. That, in itself, is praiseworthy, given that he's fighting forces greater than any that have opposed any politician in our history.
Finally, think about Mr. Kassam's closing line: "Think about what they can do to you." I suggest the trials concerning the alleged "insurrection" on January 6th, 2020, tell their own story about that. Basically, the message being sent through them, as through the Trump-Carroll case, is that "If you oppose us, we will crush you." Historically, Americans have had a blunt answer to that message. I wonder if we still have that same determination and independence of spirit today?

If you read Heinlein's _Revolt in 2100_ the premise is that "a long time ago" the US elected the Rev.Nehemiah Scudder as president, and that was the last election held.
I used to ask "Considering all the vitriol thrown at Republicans which has removed the meaning of 'racist', 'dictator', 'fascist', 'Nazi', 'Hitler','homophobe', etc - what would the Media say if a real RDFNHHNOP were to run for office? Having devalued those terms, who would believe them? Are they going to say 'We really didn't mean it before, but this guy really is Hitler!'?"
And that is how you get a Nehemiah Scudder, or ("Adam Susan" for the Brits.). Nobody will believe they are as bad as the Media portrays them. "There they go again."
Now, all that is prelude. My fear is that Trump will be, if not the "Nehemiah Scudder", then possibly the forerunner. Assuming the Republic holds together that long. Maybe the forms will remain, but ... the war has been going on for a few years now, and nobody in The Party will openly admit it.
People will say 'Some one ought to do something about it' and Some One will. Lenin and his Bolsheviks had a plan to Do Something About the Problem, as did Benito Mussolini, and the National Socialist German Worker's Party. Or the Working American Peoples' Party.
Oh yes, it can get worse, and likely will. Strengthen the community where you are, through prayer, fasting and alms-giving.

Pyotr, I don't think Trump will be that man. I have maintained he doesn't matter, as such. He was the one playing the part to maybe head off such a man. Seeing the failure and the reaction against him, I now view him as the prelude to someone like that being elected.
I've never viewed him as the man others seem to, more looked at him in a historical context like that. His failure to turn things around means it's likely things will get bad enough people will turn to someone who promises law and order, no matter the price. If not someone seizing power.
So many look to Trump, as do I, to "set things straight", one must wonder what happens if/when they do take him out.

What Trump has always been and still is concerned as to can you do your damned job and make the company/nation better by doing it? It's all about outcome based expectations. And he's stated, like in 2017, that if he becomes president he'll gut the regulations, gut the deep state (now that his eyes are truly open) and gut federal powers over states. In other words, worst Scudder/Hitler/Stalin/Mao/Wilson/FDRoosevelt Ever!

Compare, who caused a ceasefire in the Middle East? Trump. Who caused the breakout of big wars worldwide? Biden. Russia wasn't going into Ukraine during Trump's presidency, but did in Bidens. Trump was pulling us out peacefully out of Afghanistan, and was prepared to bomb the Taliban into non-existence. But Biden undid everything Trump had done and now the Taliban owns Afghanistan and a lot of our military equipment.

I only see two real complaints. One, the 'mean tweets'. Every tweet considered 'mean' is a response someone calling him, his family, or his country, some awful thing or another. I've never seen an unsolicited attack on someone...have you? The left always wants meekness in their prey, like Bush #2 and his 'house slave' (that's a quote from leftists).
The other complaint is his brashness. Some people just don't like confident alpha males.

Okay, I agree Trump is not likely to be a "Nehemiah Scudder".
But all the same, the Uniparty's attempts to discredit him have made it almost impossible for anyone to take any statements of theirs at face value. "Ha! Tell me another one."
As such, a real Racists, Homophobic, transphob, war monger, fascist dictator wannabe is likely to be elected because "Everybody knows the UniParty lies.
Because what will Party Activists with Bylines say then: "We really didn't mean what we said about the Republicans, this guy really is a bad guy! Trust us on this one!"
