OK, I have to try making this!

I've never thought of "Thanksgiving" and "pizza" in the same breath . . . but after reading this news report, that's changed.

Pino’s Pizza of Deer Park has something savory to be thankful for this Turkey Day — their viral Thanksgiving pizza pie, which is served with sliced roasted turkey breast, gravy, sausage and apple cornbread stuffing and topped off with cranberry sauce.

Barbieri has since expanded his Thanksgiving-themed offerings to include calzones, stromboli and empanadas — all stuffed with the same ingredients.

There's more at the link.

Here's a video report on the gastronomic monstrosity.

I'm hungry just looking at that thing!  It seems Americans will put anything on a pizza . . . and in this case, it looks like a winner.

What strange or alternative pizzas have you made and/or eaten, dear readers?  Surprise us with your stories and recipes in Comments.

The oddest pizza I ever ate was in Pattaya, Thailand. After three weeks of beating around the country eating Thai I was in the mood for some comfort food. Lo and behold, I spotted an establishment billing itself as a Pizza Hut (I suspect the franchise was unaware of its existence). Went in and ordered a pepperoni and sausage pie. Got a P&S pizza alright, pepperoni and vienna sausage. Yeesh . . .

Saudi also had some interesting 'pizzas'.

Had some dough that I needed to use and all I had for toppings was chorizo seco and Manchego cheese.

A Midwest specialty is breakfast pizza. I've seen it in Lubbock at the HEB, and it was pretty good. Scrambled eggs, ham, mushrooms, peppers... What's not to like?

The oddest pizzas I've ever seen were in Japan, they put things like baby corn and kiwi fruit on them. The oddest but good one I've ever eaten was a chicken fried steak pizza at The Moose's Tooth. The sauce was sausage gravy and it had chopped up chicken fried steak and corn on it.

That turkey pizza looks pretty good, I might try that with leftovers, make the sauce a combination of sausage and turkey gravy. Maybe add some roasted or mashed potatoes. I'm not much for stuffing or cranberry sauce. That reminds me, I do have some wild blueberries in my freezer, that might make a better sauce.

I was recently at an all day planning session with my team at a big Aerospace company in Texas and we had flown in a College Intern from Maryland. She was 19 years old (cute as a button by the way) and was clearly very tense about getting thrown this deep into the business with a bunch of very experienced pros and being in a really different culture. She wasn't smiling. We sent out for a bunch of pizza for lunch and while going through the line I jokingly asked her if they put blue crab on Pizza in Maryland. That lit her up, she finally smiled and laughed and said they actually do and told me all about it how good it was. Getting that smile out of a pizza joke was a great moment and she eased into the job more after that.

Galapagos Is. Smoked octopus as a pizza topping. Very good.

If I could get it without the sausage I would try it.

Anonymous, I like breakfast pizza. Then again I'm originally from Amarillo, about a hundred miles north of Lubbock.

I grew up just outside of New York City and so considered myself a pizza expert. I began dating a girl from Iowa, and she DARED to tell me that the best pizza I would ever eat was in Sun Valley, Idaho. About a year later we found ourselves in that town and I ordered the Basque Pizza--grilled peppers and lamb sausage. She was right--best pizza I ever had, before or since.
