I agree

As regular readers will know, I have literally decades of experience in environments of civil unrest, terrorism, and societal conflict, ranging from more-or-less peaceful demonstrations right through to the worst terrorist acts you can imagine.  I'm frequently astonished at the complacency and ignorance of people who think that "It can't happen here!"  I assure you, it most certainly can.

The expatriate American living in the Philippines, blogging at Come And Make It, appears to understand the reality of our situation, from a different-but-similar perspective.

There was a noticeable lag—roughly a year—[in Iraq after the war] between the collapse of central authority and the full emergence of widespread insurgency.

I see troubling parallels in the United States today. We're in that uneasy "lag" phase: deep instability is already here, with large numbers of people armed and ideologically primed for violence, yet most still hesitate to cross the line into open, sustained conflict. Instead, we see the precursors: fireworks thrown as provocations, screaming crowds, disruptive "stupid games," and tantrum-like escalations when people don't get their way. These are the behaviors of spoiled children testing boundaries.

So far, it's mostly individuals or small groups acting out. But the pattern is clear: one or two incidents beget more, then more still, until the tipping point arrives—and suddenly we have IEDs on interstate highways, coordinated attacks, and true insurgency.

A great deal of money—funneled from foreign governments, wealthy donors, and outside interests—has been poured into inflaming divisions, arming radicals, and eroding trust in institutions. These investments are designed to create exactly this kind of volatile tinderbox.

We are now one stray footstep away from triggering an avalanche of violence that could be very difficult to stop once it starts.

There's more at the link.

I warned earlier this month that the unrest being fomented over ICE and illegal aliens is reminiscent of the artificially-whipped-up demonstrations over George Floyd's death in 2020.  It seems many others agree.  See, for example:

See also the links provided in my earlier article.

El Gato Malo provides this succinct assessment.  Note:  he eschews capitals in his articles.

the "activists" they pay to run around trying to stop ICE are just upping the ante and taking even more unreasonable actions to try to protect the original incursions.

and they are creating incredibly dangerous situations.

on purpose and as a matter of policy.

and when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

this issue is being used to try to drive an irreconcilable social fracture.

it’s being managed like an insurgency in the same city that keeps spawning these (and whose governor and congressional rep (this took place in omar’s district) both look like they’re about to get indicted for massive corruption around immigrants they flooded the area with to sway voting.)

it’s more than a little curious how these folks were all so ready for this within hours.

there is coordination here.

. . .

there’s an actual insurgency being run here by the same political junta that caused the immigration mess.

but this is not going to be 2020. you can feel the national mood turning. people have had enough of being held hostage by these out of control hysteria cohorts.

and at a certain point, you stop trying to convince and realize that you’re basically just at war over a set of fully unreconcilable worldviews.

Again, more at the link.

Note the last sentence above.  It's true.  No reconciliation is possible between the two sides of the illegal alien debate.  One side sees it as a fundamental threat to what it has always meant to be an American.  The other side sees it as a wedge issue to redefine what it means to be an American.

Rudyard Kipling put it well, in a different context:

East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet

That's what we have here - and unless sanity and facts prevail over emotions and feelings, it's going to get much, much worse, more quickly than most of us can imagine.

Tis why many prep, whether for man made or natural disasters, recommend others do the same while still enjoying the day.

The collapse will be like Hemingway's description of going bankrupt..."gradually then suddenly". We are in the long slide towards the precipice. When we arrive at the edge the drop will be sudden, unexpected and calamitous.

Say what you will about the Confederacy, at least the leaders were intelligent, serious men. The current leadership of Minnesota, their governor, Jefferson Doofus, and the mayor of Minneapolis, John C. Buffoon, are bumbling us into war to save them from indictments. The Confederates had the courage of their convictions; this crew of Neo-Confederates has the courage of their acquittals.

Eh, I'm more optimistic. The violence and unrest will likely increase in Minneapolis due to the Dem pols' desire to distract from their criminal fraud, but they're having a hard time getting people riled up around the country. Fentanyl Floyd got extra success because people were stressed from the Covid lockdowns, plus rayciss. However, people have been fooled once, and won't be fooled again. Walz & co. are desperately trying to distract from the Somali fraud factory but it's not working. The left wasn't able to suppress the truth of the shooting like they did with Floyd's overdose, and too many people saw with their own eyes what really happened.

Yes, there are vocal people screaming about ICE and deportations, but the vast majority of people - including legal immigrants - want the illegals gone yesterday. The protesters are not sympathetic to the public.

In the Floyd riots they have still not come out and said who was buying the pallets of bricks to be delivered the day BEFORE the spontaneous riots started!

An old friend of mine was a Lot Col in the Marine Corps. He told me that in the early 1970s there was a list of five hundred people who, if executed publicly would end over ninety percent of the troubles in the world and that the list of people to eliminate to ensure complete mayhem was about three hundred.
Today, those lists would change very little, and many family names would be the same.
Myself, my contempt for the Left is such it would not bother me to find out millions of them ceasing to exist. The Left has erased their own humanity.

We are going to end up in the dumbest second Civil War ever. People are going to be killing each other over PERCEIVED slights, and almost never over any legitimate complaint.

I had to clip this segment out SFDebris' video because he is right: revolution is a power fantasy.

It is getting to the point where I almost dread getting up in the morning and looking at the latest happenings in the major leftist cities of the nation. Because I believe that indeed it will just take the right incident to happen, in the right area, to cause a fire that will start in that city, but burn from coast to coast.
The sad thing is that many conservatives seem to be rooting for such an incident so that they can start to play soldier and look for people to kill. They have no idea what they wish for. The last time we had such a disaster, over 600,000 people died. Because of a greater number of citizens in America now, and more lethal weapons in civilian hands, I hazard a guess that it could end up at over 10 times that many deaths, not to mention the international implications.
No doubt there are more than just a couple of nations that would love to see the disintegration of America, and might be willing to step in and grab the best parts of the pie while the opportunity is there.
I am grateful that my parents are no longer around to see what has become of a nation that they were proud of.

Notice too, that the normally vociferous faction of loons in California is silent on this. Usually, if an illegal is asked for his ID in Timbuktu, that faction goes bat-shit crazy. No, they're being TOLD to stand down to make Newsom appear in control... Newsom can't even control his legs... Talk about theater...

The fact that people are pointing left, or right, show why the Republic is lost. Blaming the other in the game of binary roulette shows all are deceived

As much as Soros and China want to see a civil war in the US (and it will certainly spill into Canada,) they are hoping for a huge distraction so they can forward their own agendas (in much the same way personal agendas were pushed after the dissolution of the Soviet Union) only this time the nuclear football will get kicked.
Yes, the coming civil war will be quick and deadly for the initial phase, but the long summer will be death on a Biblical scale. I do not foresee of the Liberals who started this surviving, and those remaining will rightfully die a lonely death.

Normally I say, let the democrats do the fafo dance. But with mass immigration the rest of us will be paying the price.

This happened shortly after a business trip to Manila,

"Maguindanao Massacre in the Philippines in November 2009, considered the deadliest election-related violence in the country's history and the worst single attack on journalists ever recorded globally.
A convoy of 58 people, including the wife, sisters, and supporters of an opposition candidate, as well as 32 journalists, were ambushed, killed, and buried in mass grave. using a backhoe."

That's what unhappiness looks like in modern society.

My ... fear? ... is the same people we now cheer on (ICE, etc) are the same people who brought us Ruby Ridge and Waco. Who's on whose side? What's the target when the shooting starts? Who "wins" and how do we know?

What I do not understand is why the US White Office is fixating on Greenland. That has alienated a massive portion of the population that would otherwise support the government. Why are they actively trying to trigger an international incident? Why not, you know, focus on fixing our internal problems first....what was that phrase again....

Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!

47 is likely to invoke the insurrection act and send in active duty military.

Martial law? Possibly.

This ain't Kent State.

I look forward to antifa nitwits getting their justice dealt out.

I think we actually have to threaten and possibly even prosecute the doners to get it to stop.

HMS Defiant: you spelled execute incorrectly. And unless we exterminate that cancer, it will return again.

The leaders of the Confederacy were democrats also.

Something may indeed kick off here somewhere, but I don't think it will go very hard or for very long. The insane Left has gotten away with their petty tantrums for so long that they really believe in the rightousness of their cause. The reason they keep coming out on top is because they know in their heart of hearts they are always on the winning side because their side is the only reasonable one. The reality is so much different as we know. I really think if these crazies get out of the box too far and actually get in real-world kinetic actions, they will lose their commitment in mere moments. When the lead actually flies and the bodies drop and the screaming starts, they will not have the stomach for it. And it won't end there. There will be no retreat to Starbucks for a quick latte'. No Uber home to a pizza and instagram because it got too heavy out there. Intel drives the fight. These people will all be known before the fight begins, and they will be persued relentlessly and ruthlessly until they are all exterminated. They will have nowhere to hide, and no excuse for their actions when they are found. They are most certainly not ready for what will happen to them. The screams and cries to their government cronies and protectors will fall on deaf ears, as they have now become politically dangerous and unpopular to support. With nobody to actually support them, their time in the sun will dim quickly. If they are actually supported to any real extent, you can be sure these sources are of the deepest dirtiest communist filth there is, and will be met with the appropriate force.
In short, I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, it's all just talk and hot air

I'm betting China is super excited about this. Sew dissention in the US. Establish Chinese owned ports on the Left coast, also in Canada. Wait until self destruction is at max levels, then pull the trigger on all the cyber warfare that will crash much if the basic infrastructure. All the previously planted Chinese spec ops guys finish off whatever is left. They send a fleet over to each port with masses of troops and drones. Then they have multiple beachheads and no one equipped to resist them.

I am late to this conversation, and your more serious readers have already commented astutely on the ongoing rabid "protesters" v ICE activities, but I, being the unserious and frolicky person that I am, focused on your mention of El Gato Malo's aversion to capital letters.
...which, of course, immediately brought to my mind the early- to mid-1900s works of Don Marquis, chronicler of Archy (the cockroach) and Mehitabel (the alley cat.)
You can find a summary of their adventures here, and an explanation of why Archy uses only lowercase letters when he types on Don's typewriter:
