The Galahad one is funny, but all wrong. It was Galahad's father Gawain who got married. The 'witch' was a lady cursed by a witch with an ugly appearance, not an actual witch - Gawain's answer broke the curse. Arthur went around asking all the women in the land what they wanted, and the answer was 'her own way', which was the answer that broke said curse. The original story is a comment on Gawain's courtesy in the face of a frightful fate, and on how appearances aren't all that make up a happy marriage, respect is.
