Today's award goes to two would-be burglars in China.
Hapless crooks spent more than a month digging a tunnel through solid rock into a jewellery store - only to be arrested the minute they stepped out with their loot.
Lu Peng, 26, and Xian Tsu Heng, 27 - carrying gold and gems worth 50,000 UK pounds [about US $82,500] - found police waiting for them as they emerged from the 100ft tunnel dug underneath a main road in Jiangyang, eastern China.
Cops had had the tunnel under observation for a week after motorists reported a dip in the road.
"They told us they had been inspired by a crime featured in a reality TV programme about a police task force - but they didn't get away with it in that one either," said a police spokesman.
Hint to tunneling robbers - either reinforce your tunnel, or dig it deeper, so that it can't be followed by the dip in the roadway above it!

No, no, no. If you're going to tunnel, you need to dig *three*! Tom, Dick, and Harry!
