Yes, but . . . why???
I note with disbelief that Charles Dickens' toothpick was sold at auction in New York yesterday for $9,150.
My only question: "Why on earth would anyone pay that much for a toothpick, no matter who'd owned it in times past?" Does the purchaser plan to read A Tale Of Two Cities while delicately picking at his teeth with the author's dental implement?
Perhaps I'm a literary Philistine, who simply doesn't understand the dental cleansing implications of great literature . . .
