Here's wishing everyone a happy, relaxed, upbeat Fourth of July celebration this year. When I think back to how things were last year, there's a vast difference, isn't there? We have a President who may not suit everyone, but is doing his job the best way he knows how, and a Congress and Senate that are - however shakily - working together to move forward his agenda. I think that beats stalemate, and I think most of the Founding Fathers would have approved.
May our Republic grow stronger every year, and become a land whose citizens may live in liberty and prosperity under the grace of God.

As good a birthday wish as I've heard, a keeper. Next best thing is an HB hotdog with coleslaw and mustard! "Boss, I'm working it" for both.
My grandchild, in public as well as private school, can not read the document. They have not been taught cursive. This in Tennessee.
So sad. They have no way to make the comparison between cursive and print to even make sure the printed one is correct.
They also can't read their great grandma's recipe cards.
We have a long road back but the pendulum is finally swinging in the right direction.
Taking this from TB blog comments -
According to the National Assessment of Adult Literacy, 57% of Americans have a reading grade below 9th level, and 13% have a reading grade below 5th level. Only 13% can understand the Declaration or Patrick Henry’s speech, and virtually none can understand the Constitution. And that includes all Americans. Among Generation Z, it’s far worse. They are the least literate generation in American history.
We have through our own fault voted in a system of Tax and Tyranny that even crazy old George III would have been ashamed of. Maybe we're on our way out of it. There does seem to be a new vibe in the country.
Agree with LL, and the question is, is the pendulum swinging 'fast' enough?
Prayers for those flooded on the Guadeloupe.
Blessed Independence Day.
