Why illegal aliens will keep on coming

I've heard and read a lot of comments about the illegal alien problem in the United States.  Many say - and I agree - that they should not be allowed to "invade" this country, and should be deported if they do.  Others argue for a "compassionate" approach, ignoring cultural and other conflicts in the name of a "shared humanity".  Whilst I'm more of a law-and-order guy, I admit they have at least some right on their side, too.

Problem is, both sides ignore the reality that people want to come here, and to European nations, because our way of life is so immeasurably superior to their own that they'll do literally anything to escape here.  For some it's quite literally a matter of life or death.  Three news headlines over the past week should bear this out.  Click any of them to read the related article.

Thirty Days as a Cuban

There are dozens more articles like those every week.  They are the norm in many countries.  People living there want nothing more than to get out of those hellish conditions, and move somewhere that offers them greater opportunity - and they'll risk their lives, if necessary, to get there.  They don't care about laws that supposedly forbid them from doing so.  What has any law ever done for them where they are?  Laws are things you ignore when trying to survive.  Anything goes.

That's why, while I applaud President Trump's efforts to deport as many as possible of those who've entered this country illegally, I also recognize that those efforts are doomed to failure unless and until we figure out some way to lift the standards of living in the rest of the world.  Clearly, we can't do that, or afford to pay for it, ourselves.  It has to start in every country as a grassroots effort;  but in many countries, those in power cling to it illegitimately, and have no objection to killing any upstart politicians, and destroying any political movements, who try to take over.  They'll strangle such a grassroots effort at birth.

Yes, it's a pipe-dream to suggest that we can reform the rest of the world.  We can't.  However, unless and until the rest of the world does become a better place to live, we're going to continue to be overrun by those who are desperate for a future that doesn't exist for them where they are.  No matter how many we deport, they're going to keep on coming . . . and they're going to bring with them the societal and cultural norms that have shaped and formed them.  They may try to fit into our society, but many of them will find it impossible to do so.  They're already set in their ways - and those ways are not, and please God never will be, ours.

The irresistible force meets the immovable object.  That's our real problem - and I don't know that there's a solution, except to continue to roll our Sisyphean immigration rock uphill.  We daren't stop, because if we do, the invasion will resume in full force, and our society, culture and nation will be overrun.  We're going to have to invest time, resources and a whole lot of money to preserve what we have - but is it moral or ethical for us to do so without at the same time trying to assist other nations to improve conditions for their own people, thus reducing our illegal alien problem?

I have no answers.  I can only face reality - and I think that, at present, too many of us are not facing it at all.  "Kick them all out!" ignores the reality that they'll be back, along with a whole bunch of others who are more and more motivated to do so.  To ignore that reality is to live in cloud cuckoo land, an imaginary "reality" that ignores the truth.

If anyone can offer any really viable solutions, I'd love to hear them.

Peter

Make illegal immigration a capital offense, with presence = irrefutable guilt, and this will cease to be a problem.

For any nitwit who thinks this is too harsh, consider the same problem if it was people inviting themselves into your home at 3AM, and get back to me on "proportionate response".

Open season on the border, $1 bounty per head, and no bag limits, and this problem ends in about 5 minutes, in perpetuity.

Next problem.

Here's the analogy that just came to my mind.

We in the high-trust economically-prosperous West are living behind containment. Like radiation shielding. The outside third-world low-trust population is contaminated. We have to keep them out or we will perish. It's literally existential. And we have the ability to do so. The question is do we have the will.

It isn't our duty to clean up their messes. We've tried. We've expended treasure and blood. For centuries. They only resent us for it. There aren't enough resources on the planet to force that change.

Aesop has the only functional solution, based on the experience of the East India Company and subsequent British Raj. They controlled parts of the subcontinent for close to 350 years and yet still couldn't change the culture there. Nature is clearly more important than nuture.

You control pests in your house by killing them then making it as hard as possible to enter.

"... unless and until we figure out some way to lift the standards of living in the rest of the world. " Trouble is, every time we try to do that, we end up in a "forever war." Unfortunately for us, the Left's answer isn't to lift the standards of the rest of the world to stop illegal immigration, but to LOWER OUR STANDARDS to MATCH the rest of the world. Look at ANY place in the United States where illegal aliens have taken root and then tell me I'm wrong. A BIG step in the right direction would be to get rid of WELFARE. This would derail the gravy train the illegals are jumping onto when they get here, and will lessen the number of "jobs no one else wants to do" here in the USA. Until then, Trump is doing the only thing he can do; DEPORTING THEM ALL!

If we can keep this country as the guiding light and export some of that light to third world shit holes maybe. I think about the out flux of people who wanted a better life that built this country. We all share at some level the same religion, and some what the same set of laws. I dunno how it will all end but until Baal/Solcialism/Islam/Communism are not longer sought after by the masses I think we will be stuck.

Not going to lie here, I would be a lot more sympathetic about illegal aliens if so many of them weren't vile, entitled pieces of shit. Asking me to care about their plight is like asking me to care about the plight of people who were sexually abused as kids and currently raping kids as adults. I don't care about their sad stories at all because their current actions make them eligible for a woodchipper retirement party. Many of the third world foreigners who come here act like they are owed something, and they take anything they want, no matter who they hurt. After copius interactions with third world savages who refuse to be civilized, my only response to, "They're just trying to survive," is, "I'd rather they didn't."

My proposal remains unchanged- When a large mass of invaders try to rush our borders, they should have white phosphorus dropped on them via drone, and the results should be recorded in 4K and used in a commercial released in every other nation in the world telling people not to come. We should also have mandatory marksmenship classes starting in elementary school, and every person over the age of 10 should be armed with a weapon they are proficient enough with to kill. In a few short years, we'd have a lot fewer third world savages and around, and there'd be the added bonus of reducing the population of American-born predators as well. Americans may, in our hearts, all want to be Captain America, but the world needs to be reminded that we do consider The Punisher and Spawn to be a perfectly acceptable alternative if we can't be.

Build the wall. Shoot anybody who touches it.

Patrol the seas. Sink any vessel carrying invaders.

Register every lawful alien arriving by plane, and track their movements. (Hang those who arrive without a valid visa right there at the airport.) Make sure they leave on time. If they don't, jail them pending a fine of everything they own plus $5,000 and then deport them.

Disband and confiscate every penny from any company or NGO who facilitates the invasion of our fair nation. Then jail the entire management staff & board of directors for, oh, let's say a year per person smuggled.

Problem solved.

I fully support your analysis of "low-trust" invaders as an infection of the body politic, which must be excused.

Out invaders have, and are given, no reason to actually become American in nature or attitude.
To them, lying, cheating, and parasitic behavior have no downside. If they are ever caught, and ever deported after that, they can just come back with or without a new name and start their crimes again.

Peter I notice the "War on Poverty" has been going on in America for what? 60 years with no real success noted.

America has been the most generious of all nations giving AID and technical support to countries for decades. Most wasted on overhead and warlords.

Haiti has been the same *hithole since they killed off the "White Masters" in

The Haitian Declaration of Independence (French: Déclaration d'Indépendance d'Haïti) was proclaimed on January 1st, 1804, in the port city of Gonaïves by Jean-Jacques Dessalines, marking the end of the 13-year-long Haitian Revolution.

No matter what AID or technical support donated over the decades.

A country without boarders is soon a DEAD COUNTRY.

I notice with all the "Enrichment" of EU with rapefugees and such that Poland that stops them at the boarder has the same rape numbers as far back as the fall of the USSR. Not so in ALL the "Let them IN" Nations.

I agree with Aesop on this. Set up a dead zone and enforce it. Businesses that knowingly hire illegals should be fined into extinction as to WARN the Other Companies to clear their decks of illegals.

There's the answer, right there. Make it less comfortable for invaders to be here. Start by fining employers. Stop all benefits including healthcare and education. It may not solve the problem completely, but it would go a long way toward doing so.

While I 100% agree with most of the posters above. I would like to point out that before we can secure the gates and clear our lands of the invaders. We must first remove the traitors who would stab us in the back as they will continue to hide the invaders and reopen the gates as soon as our gaze is elsewhere.

Now I am not saying kill the traitors though they richly deserve it. Those who are invading. Yes, by all means gun them down and hang whichever survived the first round.

But the traitors need to be rounded up, their citizenship stripped, then exiled preferably to central Africa. They wanted this nonsense. They can live with it permanently.

Importing the third world is like dropping a turd in the punch bowl, it ruins the whole experience for everyone.

The US is still having major issues with the legal turd worlders that were "imported" hundreds of years ago and had trillions spent on their wants due to LBJ's "Great Society". Check out the latest from fun from Cincinnati.

And a good chunk of our property taxes in Texas go to support the schooling of children of illegals. The demographics have inverted in less than two generations in many areas. Many of the mass mailings to my home address are not in English.

"and yet still couldn't change the culture there"

The East India Company made strenuous efforts not to change the culture: for instance, they excluded Christian missionaries. They did make changes at the margin by abolishing habits that the British couldn't stomach - no more Thugee, no more Suttee. But otherwise emphasis was on Britons learning the native languages not on Europeanising the Indians.

(Note the contrast with the American system of not bothering to learn native languages. I recently read that at the time of the overthrow of the Shah of Iran not a single CIA agent in Iran spoke any native language. Of the American diplomats in the Embassy only one did - he could speak Farsi.)

Private entrepreneurs tried to change the culture a bit e.g. by establishing labour forces with enough self-discipline to be employable in manufacturing. It proved to be awfully hard work.

I think their are enough compassionate American citizens to 'adopt -- sponser' a person or family that wants to emigrate. Like an adoption agency, the family applies to sponser, the alien applies to be a participant, and they both decide if the sponser will help the applicant.

No federal monies involved. No different from an applicant deciding to become a U.S. citizen. If they can not follow the rules, than application denied.

We cannot lift up the third world by our own example, the USA was built for not just for White men but a particular subspecies of White men (Northwestern European). Our style of government cannot work for any other group. As ugly as it sounds only the "neo-kings" such as Bukele can make the third world function. Democracy is not the answer.

I’m not opposed to deporting those who came here illegally and I don’t think many do. But I think there’s been both a misunderstanding as well as a mischaracterization of who is here illegally.

For starters, asylum seekers which were the bulk of immigrants who came over under Biden did so legally. They are generally given 1 1/2 year visas to be determined if they have safe reentry to countries. Workers are often granted 3 to 6 years visas which have generally been reapproved. And this has been going on for decades.

So what we have are working immigrants who’ve live here for years, law abiding and keeping their legal status up to date, at a stroke of a pen, have suddenly had their legal status revoked, thus, now making them here illegally. So the 20 year ice cream peddler is now fair game to be yanked off the street and to disappear. The 20 plus year preacher has his legal status changed in mid sermon- with ICE waiting at the door.

Again, if one sneaks across the boarder, I’m all for deportation. But ICE waiting at immigration offices to toss people into vans for showing up to update their paperwork- that ain’t right.

If the 'asylum seeker' crossed more than one international border on their way here they were lying about needing to leave their home country IMO. NOBODY from Somalia should have been resettled in the USA, much less in and around Minneapolis.

Sigh.. so much bullshit here.
First! No to illegals
Second not no to immigration even of people from somalia, etheopia etc..

I know a lot of really lovely legal African immigrants, Thai immigrants, Chinese immigrants, etc.. etc.. etc.. The are proud to be American's now. They get more upset than we do about the illegals. My kid's play with their kid's.. They are just people. They love, they bleed red, they work hard etc...

So it really bothers me when you write in broad strokes of Africans or even Ethiopians or any other broad geographic category. It is lazy and hateful and makes you as bad the terrorists and criminals we do not want here.

The not easy way is to judge people by the content of their heart and their actions.

Invite the good ones here.. stop with the permanent welfare. Stop welfare and services permanently for those here illegally.

Realistically there has to be some sort of fine grained amnesty and path to citizenship. I know of several "Illegals" that have been here for decades with American family's and children that are working and supporting their family's. Other than they crossed the border many years ago without permission or their green card expired and they couldn't get it renewed they have built a life and it is proof of good citizen material. Not criminals just hard working men that support their family's and go to church. Not saying it is right but it is reality.

What's happening now with mass deportation does need to happen but there needs to be some basic granularity of how long, productive and not criminal path.

peter is exactly right when he says that laws take second place to survival (me paraphrasing him). My law abiding behavior with a family is in direct proportion to their survival. They are threatened or start to starve and the glove's will come off. This is the official policy of someone that absolutely believes in law and order and living within the bounds of my society. I have had some shitty things happen to me because of unjust laws/rules/policy's of our government. I still believe and work to live with honor and integrity under the broken system we have. However I believe in those things only so long as they mostly believe in me and provide a relatively safe environment to raise my family and feed them etc...

Their are a lot of people in such bad situations that if they can get to our border and be arrested, they would be ecstatic to sit in a facility here in the US and have food, showers and a safe place for them and their family to sleep even for a little bit.

I don't know how to deal with all of those but we need to understand that beside the criminals and terrorists that are crossing our boarder and 20 or 100 to 1 desperate good people. No I don't believe we can let the whole world of desperate people in but at least I can take a honest look at them without demonizing everyone trying to get in.

They do not come here to be Americans. They come here to be Indians, Pakistanis, Hatians, Guatemalans Hondurans, or Somalians in America. They care nothing for our culture. They come to colonize, and live their third world cultures on an American prosperity that they are incapable of creating.
And we certainly do not need mosques anywhere, for any reason.
The moslems are a different problem entirely. They make no secret of the fact that islam is here to supplant our culture our religion, and our values. They are here to conquer, and every moslem enclave is, de facto, now a part of the ummah. The minute they have enough moslems in any given area they adopt our values; impose their values on us. It is jihad by way of sheer demographics. England looks hopeless, and Europe may already be at the point of no return. The only way to properly deal with islam is to forceably expel moslems and their vile religion from this country, and this hemisphere. But I'm not holding my breath.

In a non-homogenous society, the vast majority of people in the world vote ethnicity/tribe first, race second, faith third, passport last. It doesn't matter how nice / smart / well-educated they are, it's a numbers game in the voting. If there is no longer an absolute white majority, then there will be HUGE problems because the others will mostly vote as a block.

If you've ever watched "Survivor" as they vote people off the island, a common winning strategy is for an alliance of the weak to vote the strongest off first, because they are the greatest threat in the end-game. If the total numbers get too big...

So sink the ships, mine the border, brand deportees and if found again they get shortened (or life sentences of labor), very strictly limit legal immigration to tiny numbers for at least 3 generations. Prosecute employers who hire illegals. Strip citizenship and deport naturalized citizens who commit serious crimes. Ensure that citizenship is verified for anyone receiving public assistance. No immigrant can receive any sort of welfare. ERs are not required to treat illegals who cannot pay. Do not prosecute civilians who shoot illegals while they are committing violent crimes, or property crimes with any significant value involved. Put a bounty on known coyotes involved in human trafficking. Increase tariffs on countries who are having lots of their citizens turning up here as illegals. Allow fewer student visas. End the "allow in family" loophole. Do not allow H-1b workers to bring in family... heck, end pretty much the entire program entirely. End anchor-baby rules, and make stripping citizenship and deporting those who are already here easy.

Continue all this until we have a stable 60%+ white / Christian majority for as far out as the trendlines can be reasonably projected. Or else there will no longer be a country where whites are safe.

I have some experience here, as I've said openly, in that my wife was an illegal alien when we met. I took the time for an extended courtship, as I wasn't sure if she was marrying me or chasing the green card. The real answer is both, of course. But as we're entering decade #3 together, I'm pretty sure I made the right call.

My solution, which I suggest is the most moral one, is to combine reforms at the governmental level... including absolutely unambiguous and severe punishment for knowingly hiring an illegal alien- asset forfeitures, fines, and a reward system that encourages reporting parties to self-police their competition.
So one of my closest friends from childhood is an ironworker, owns a shop, has 3-4 service trucks and crews, and has worked 6-7 days a week for the past 25 years to build his business. He celebrated his 50th birthday a little while back by taking a full week's vacation. First time in 25 years. Hasn't had one since. He pays his guys $20-$45 an hour plus health insurance, based on their skills, which is about average for the region.
Many of his competitors hire illegals at $12-15 an hour.

In my mind, the fair thing here would be for his competitors to lose their ass for breaking the law, and I believe that if my friend who is in full legal compliance was the one reporting in, he should be entitled to half the value of seized assets or fines levied... say $1000 per day, per illegal.

It's the scumbag citizens who are making the invasion possible. Sure the .gov is now giving out freebies, but many if not most illegals ARE working at some level, and the money they earn is always, ALWAYS coming from citizens.
So punish the damn citizens. Stop feeding the bears.

I suspect the word of Christ was historically significant in modifying White European society and that took centuries. How to be compassionate and follow the example of the Good Samaritan. And what do we do about those already here?
1) Shut the boarders down, prevent the problem from getting worse.
2) Shut off the government largess.
3) Make verify or something reliable that will spot all the identity theft. Easy to say jail employers but many names come back as legal.
4) English only
5) Jail anyone who rents or employs an illegal
6) 50% tax on remittance.
7) Capital punishment for any Felony. Why are we paying to hold animals in jail? We would be doing their mother countries a favor, too.
8) Pursue identity theft.
9) free transport to your home country, with meals.

The problem is this is at the government level and the problem is huge. We are doing some of the above, but we need to be draconian. We have bounty hunters for bail jumpers, the program could be utilized for illegals.

Could we skim the cream off the top and keep the good ones? Establish a program with a sponsor that assumes lifelong responsibility for the immigrant. And their kids are your kids responsibility. You'd better seriously know those people - and I do know legal immigrants, I would take that risk. 1 family, but they exist.

But many can't overcome their early social programming. Their kids will not fully assimilate, and potentially not even their grandkids. Help them in their home. Encourage missionaries.
OR-if you want to speed it up. Invade the country, kill every male >12 and then have our soldiers take local wives. I believe there is a historical precedent for this. I don't favor the latter due to the moral implications and because it would require trusting the government, which has never worked. (Everything was better in the 1950s? What experiments were done on human subjects by our gov't)

I have learned the hard way not to help someone who is not actively trying to help themself. It is an almost foolproof method of identifying parasites.

And last point - we are deeply in debt. Our giveaway has not only provided bribes and skimming for kleptocrats, but it has helped weaken our country. We must stop the financial bleeding and we must take time to heal. Welfare is not the government's responsibility; it is that of the individual citizen. Church's provide an avenue for people to work together. There is no ideal solution, but we can go with least bad.

I believe that we begin by simply and consistently enforce the laws on the books at present. Next, those people, organizations, and local, state or federal government employees that decline to enforce those laws experience personal sanctions, beginning with fines, with a first offence being 1 months salary, second offence a years salary, and a third offence seizure of retirement funds and jail time. People respond to incentives, and it is time to incentivize them to carry out their responsibilities. If they feel they cannot in good conscience do so, this will bring in those who can. We cannot control other countries and their people, but we should be able to control our own. Let’s begin at home, and I suspect we would see a rapid response to vigorous enforcement.

audeojude said...

lol.. this is the silliest idea yet.

i can see how wrong it would go enforcing every law. consistently enforcing the laws on the books under pain of fines and possible jail for the enforcer if he doesn't do something would create a shitstorm of injustice. Have you looked at how horrible the laws are. I must break at least one law a day because I obeyed another one. Im frankly terrified of how many laws everyone of us break daily that we have never heard of. Just remember ignorance is no excuse in a court of law. Right now I am horrified for the people persecuted in court under unconstitutional laws much less the ones that are constitutional but the epitome of unjust. Always remember that the law is not justice and very seldom reflects justice. It is simply the law that those in places of power have passed for the last 250 years, not counting English common law that we adopted that goes back another 4 or 5 hundred years. It's 1/4 thoughtful implementation of laws that are just and aimed at individual civil rights and 3/4 laws passed that implement the wishes and desires of power by elected officials and their constituency of big donors or buddy's. Thats not counting the honest laws passed to enforce social, racial, cultural norms of the group in power at the moment. That are normally never receded just added to by the next people in power that are true believers in something. I'm way more scared of true believers than of crooks out for money. (well if those true believers done believe in individual rights.)

Just no.

We halted nearly all legal immigration in our history once before. It did us no harm, and great prosperity was achieved without adding more lead around the economy's ankles.

Let's try a 100-year pause this time, and re-evaluate its success or failure in 2125.

Let the rest of the world take care of itself, since it hates us so much, except for the daily Olympics when it's time to pole-vault, swim, broad jump, or 100m dash across our borders and immigration laws.
