While I was "out of it" undergoing surgery last week, a number of readers submitted suggestions for tracks and albums I could play when I got back to blogging. I'm slowly working my way through them.
One of them was for Swedish hard rock and heavy metal singer Erik Grönwall. His musical style is certainly interesting, and rather different from many of his contemporaries. He describes his performance of the classic "House of the Rising Sun", popularized by the Animals in the 1960's, as an "epic dark version" of the song.
You'll find more of his music on his YouTube channel, and on his Web site.

Interesting take on an old song. Another I've enjoyed was The Dead South's version of You Are My Sunshine. The minor key gives it a whole different, and darker, feel.

Interesting, thanks!
One of the better versions of this song, I enjoyed it! I pilfered and posted it over at Bustednuckle.
Dang, that boy can belt! Great version. I'll have to check out more of his work.
