I haven't spoken much about the crisis of indoctrination and political correctness at our schools, because I don't have children of my own and I'm somewhat remote from the problem. Nevertheless, it's grown to the point that it is (or should be) a national scandal at present. The fact that it isn't is an indictment, not just of the education system, but of the news media's refusal to discuss it in realistic terms.
Lucy Davies puts it in perspective.
Forgive the grim opening to this, but children are now taught about masturbation at school aged 3-6. And parents are being told these lessons are compulsory.
Not “grooming”. Not “sexualising children”. Not “insanely creepy & inappropriate”. Compulsory.
Call it a conspiracy all you want, there is a very dark, heavy agenda at play & this is part of it…
So is the gender confusion indoctrination…
And the virus fear indoctrination & misplaced sense of responsibility…
And the climate fear indoctrination, manipulation & guilt-bashing…
And the ‘need’ for a ‘convenient’ cashless society indoctrination…
And the ‘be kind’ at all costs indoctrination…
And the ‘fear to stand against the norm, however ****ed up it is because the herd will leap on you like an angry pack of pre-programmed hyenas & you’ll deserve everything that’s coming to you’ indoctrination…
And the war propaganda indoctrination…
And all the rest of the horsecrap we’re being bombarded with from all directions.
It’s all coming into schools for a reason. More & more. It’s not even covert or insidious anymore.
They have drag queens looking like plastic sex dolls reading stories to 4-year-olds & parents who are too ‘kind & liberal’ to say get the **** away from my child.
They have people injecting children with experimental drugs created by known criminals to ‘save’ the elderly who’ve already had 5 of the bloody things.
They have teachers regurgitating government fear-porn to children because ‘it’s just what’s on the curriculum.’
Kids being dressed up in whatever colours are in keeping with the latest propaganda push. Doesn’t matter what you or they think, as long as it’s in keeping with ‘the done thing’.
Has ‘the done thing’ ever been louder?
Has going against it ever been less popular?
Have we ever been more mindlessly obedient & afraid to question authority?
There's more at the link, and it's well worth reading.
It's gotten so bad that even left-wing educators are protesting.
How could it possibly benefit racial justice or equity to keep classrooms half-empty, excluding students who want to attend in deference to those who don't? The whole thing sounds like the sort of outrageous Kafkaesque fantasy a conservative would invent to satirize the ultra-woke and their bigotry of low expectations. But that’s precisely the problem. After all, what options do you have when so many of the people in charge of our schools have priorities so disordered that merely describing them, no matter how dispassionately, will earn you accusations of strawmanning?
I've had liberal friends of mine dispute (to my face!) straightforward accounts of what my colleagues have said. They’ll tell me school districts could never embrace such obviously unworkable policies; what else can I do except shrug my shoulders and say, "I'm sorry, but yes, they can?" They’ll tell me I sound like one of those right-wing grifter types; what else can I do except sigh and tell them the grifters have a point?
This is where I have to stop and make one thing very clear: I’m a leftist. Like, a big one. I hate capitalism, I support abortion on demand, and I unironically use phrases like “systems of oppression” and “the dominant culture.” The last big paper I put together for my undergraduate degree was on critical race theory, for the love of God! I’m not the sort of person who can be easily dismissed as a conservative crank. But plenty of my fellow leftists are still willing to try, on the grounds that anyone who thinks there might be any problem with DEI policies must necessarily be a slack-jawed MAGA troll.
In my short career as an educator, I’ve had countless experiences like this – encounters with colleagues and administrators so surreal that even close friends chided me for exaggerating or “playing into right-wing tropes” when I repeat them. And there’s a sense in which I don’t blame them, because things really are that crazy out here.
Again, more at the link.
Propaganda is not only being force-fed to our children to make them conform; the force-feeding is being done by those who actively prey on our children for their own warped, sick, criminal purposes. As just one example, Fox News reports: "At least 181 K-12 educators charged with child sex crimes in first half of 2022". Note that's only educators who've been charged. The number still under investigation, and the number who've not (yet) been detected, must be many times larger.
If I had children today, the last place I'd send them to be educated would be to any public school in the USA (and I'd avoid many private schools as well). If I couldn't find a school that will reliably teach them the "Three R's" while eschewing all the current politically correct nonsense, and protect them from harm as they learn, then I'd do anything necessary to homeschool them, if possible in alliance with other right-thinking families. That's a simple, basic necessity in today's world. We can no longer trust the education system our country has built.
- It doesn't safeguard our kids: it damages them.
- It doesn't teach our kids: it indoctrinates them.
- It doesn't graduate independent young adults who can think for themselves: it graduates politically correct clones that are caricatures of what an independent young adult should be.
As Ms. Davies concludes:
None of these agenda driven indoctrinations are normal & none of them are remotely ok. They are incredibly harmful, and so is our apathy, denial & silence.
These are our kids. Push the f*** back.
Because if we don't push back, we'll know who to blame for our kids not turning out right. We'll see them every time we look in the mirror.
There's something very concrete all of us can do: get behind the increasing efforts, local, state and nationwide, to take back our education system from the politically correct and restore it to what it should be. We're seeing that in more and more school systems, where right-thinking candidates are being elected to school boards and are cracking down on much of the "woke" nonsense they're finding there. Good for them, say I, and the more the merrier!

This has been the goal and point of government funded education from day 1. The originators were avowed communists. Nothing new under the sun, but now they think that we can't/won't resist anything they try to force upon us. I have homeschooled since my 31 year old started school. Hopefully the resistance grows larger and stronger everyday. I still hold some hope for a peaceful solution.
Glad I'm out of it now taught Elementary school from 1974 to 2010...saw it coming and any good teachers remaining must be bewildered.
Welcome to World War Three - nobody expected it to be like this.
As a 51 year old dad of a 6 year old (yes we got a late late start) who starts 1st grade in a couple weeks... Yeah, very ready to push. I and her mom, watch for it like hawks.
But since we're in Juneau AK, maybe I should say "Bald Eagles. Angriest pigeon ever, there are so many here."
Why is the cheese in the mousetrap free? Government schools were designed for indoctrination: "Modern, industrialized, compulsory schooling was to make a sort of surgical incision into the prospective unity of these underclasses. Divide children by subject, by age-grading, by constant rankings on tests, and by many other more subtle means, and it was unlikely that the ignorant mass of mankind, separated in childhood, would ever reintegrate into a dangerous whole.
Inglis breaks down the purpose - the actual purpose - of modem schooling into six basic functions, any one of which is enough to curl the hair of those innocent enough to believe the three traditional goals listed earlier:
1) The adjustive or adaptive function. Schools are to establish fixed habits of reaction to authority. This, of course, precludes critical judgment completely. It also pretty much destroys the idea that useful or interesting material should be taught, because you can't test for reflexive obedience until you know whether you can make kids learn, and do, foolish and boring things.
2) The integrating function. This might well be called "the conformity function," because its intention is to make children as alike as possible. People who conform are predictable, and this is of great use to those who wish to harness and manipulate a large labor force.
3) The diagnostic and directive function. School is meant to determine each student's proper social role. This is done by logging evidence mathematically and anecdotally on cumulative records. As in "your permanent record." Yes, you do have one.
4) The differentiating function. Once their social role has been "diagnosed," children are to be sorted by role and trained only so far as their destination in the social machine merits - and not one step further. So much for making kids their personal best.
5) The selective function. This refers not to human choice at all but to Darwin's theory of natural selection as applied to what he called "the favored races." In short, the idea is to help things along by consciously attempting to improve the breeding stock. Schools are meant to tag the unfit - with poor grades, remedial placement, and other punishments - clearly enough that their peers will accept them as inferior and effectively bar them from the reproductive sweepstakes. That's what all those little humiliations from first grade onward were intended to do: wash the dirt down the drain.
6) The propaedeutic function. The societal system implied by these rules will require an elite group of caretakers. To that end, a small fraction of the kids will quietly be taught how to manage this continuing project, how to watch over and control a population deliberately dumbed down and declawed in order that government might proceed unchallenged and corporations might never want for obedient labor.
That, unfortunately, is the purpose of mandatory public education in this country. And lest you take Inglis for an isolated crank with a rather too cynical take on the educational enterprise, you should know that he was hardly alone in championing these ideas. Conant himself, building on the ideas of Horace Mann and others, campaigned tirelessly for an American school system designed along the same lines. Men like George Peabody, who funded the cause of mandatory schooling throughout the South, surely understood that the Prussian system was useful in creating not only a harmless electorate and a servile labor force but also a virtual herd of mindless consumers. In time a great number of industrial titans came to recognize the enormous profits to be had by cultivating and tending just such a herd via public education, among them Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller." http://wesjones.com/gatto1.htm
I've gotten to the point where, in my opinion, if you feed your kids to the pedophiles and groomers in public school, and they get abused, or "decide" to "identify" as trans, etc? The line for millstones includes the wilfully negligent, and those whose wicked complacency left their little ones defenseless before their tormenters and abusers.
I've lost my patience with the fools, particularly the ones with both parents in the house, who remain perpetually surprised to discover that handing their precious little ones over to evil people for eight+ hours a day somehow ended badly.
But at least they were able to afford a fancier house, or newer cars, or a more expensive hobby! And thank God they didn't have to do something as horrible as moving to an area with a slightly lower cost of living, right? How horrible to contemplate having healthy, happy, unindoctrinated children...when the cost is the loss of your stuff, or your darling apartment in NY, etc! Not to mention one of you having to give up your precious career! Egads!
Here's your millstone. Cliff is over there. God have mercy on your soul, and the souls of your kids, whom you "so reluctantly" fed into the meat grinder of Satan.
Single parents get a little more sympathy, partly depending on the reason for the other parent's absence, but it's still unacceptable. Indeed those kids are even more vulnerable, easy targets. Which is why, if the single parent status has to do with simply being "unhappy" in an otherwise non abusive, comparatively healthy family, and marriage? You get two millstones.
