My wife and I are heading south for the winter to the Gulf of Mexico for a week lazing in the sun. We've both been far too busy for the past several months, me with medical issues and her with being the the primary technical adviser to her employer's support staff. We need breathing room, and space to unwind.
I'll post to this blog occasionally, as and when I feel the urge, but I don't want to commit to daily posts. I really do need time to relax. For the same reason, I'll only moderate comments at irregular intervals, so if you comment and it doesn't appear soon, please be patient. Amuse yourselves with the bloggers listed in my sidebar until I'm back in harness. Regular blogging should resume on Monday, October 12th.
I'll leave you with these encouraging thoughts from Rat. Click the image to be taken to a larger view at the comic's Web page.
Sadly, no gin for me. I'm driving!

I expected Goat to say "Wait, where's Pig?".
Both of you enjoy the break.
Your timing is a bit off, looks like rain for this weekend. Which may not be a bad thing, should cool off things a bit. I like my vacations to be in summer, on a Great Lake, for about 2 weeks. Anything to get out of the Gulf Coast side of Texas. Depending on where you go, there might be some nice fishing. Have a great vacation!
I have been swearing since my Calmer Half's kidney drama started that when it was over, I'd take a vacation. Well, it's over. I'm taking a vacation.
I'm going to suck at riding a bodyboard because it's been far too long, then sit on the beach and drink a margarita... and enjoy every minute of it.
5 years ago we decided to make the Gulf coast (SW Florida) our home rather than travelling cattywampus cross-country every 6 months.
still patting myself on the back (despite that awful ache in my shoulder)
If you're coming down here to enjoy our snow white soft sand, welcome and safe travels. But remember we are no longer on the Gulf of Mexico. It's the Gulf of America 🦅🇺🇸
Hope you both have a good time and return in better shape than you left.
Enjoy, and make sure you visit USS Lexington, and Dot can imagine trying to bring the A-3D aboard... And they ALWAYS hiked the right MLG on landing...LOL
Enjoy your break! Rat forgot rifles, but has the right of it otherwise.
May your Down Time have plenty of Up's. Just call it Life On the 'Guf.
Wishing you both as much relaxation AND enjoyment as you can handle.
