He's not backward in coming forward.
Personally, I think Jussie Smollet made up the whole thing to attack President Trump's policies and make himself look good to the DEI/BLM/Antifa crowd. It's good to know some of his own people recognize that too, and aren't afraid to call him on it.

It follows a pattern where a person feels that he or she is losing popularity, and gins up a controversy to maintain or increase it.
Smollet, Kaepernick, etc.
Justice for Juicy
French, gay, black. Dave left out - "tough call - which one is worst?"
to hilarious :)
It may be that Dave is the only comedian who could do that skit, and I'm glad he did.
Don’t forget Megan Markel.
As I recall he was about to be fired from the show so he created the entire lynching fantasy for leverage against the showrunners.
One must admire Mr. Smollett's commitment to race-blind casting.
The only other comic I can thing of would be Flip Wilson who would have called him out like this.
Richard Pryor would have lit Jussie up....
A victim of his own stupidity, imagination and perceived importance.
Chappelle has been one of the true funny people for a long time. Juicy Smollay phrase always has me ROTFLMAO
Dave Chapelle is not one of Smollett's "people".
That was the point he was trying to make, without saying that obvious part out loud.
Chapelle is quite literally nobody's fool. But he's learned the lesson of medieval jesters:
When you crack people up saying it, you can make fun of anyone, even the king himself, without getting beheaded for rubbing their noses in the truth.
