A song for Thanksgiving

Sometimes the old traditions speak more clearly to us than their modern descendants.  Here's Maddy Prior with a medley of "Marigold" and "Harvest Home".

A happy and blessed Thanksgiving to all of you.  May we give thanks where they are due, and seek renewed blessings for the year ahead.

Peter

What a lovely voice -- thank you for the introduction to Maddy Prior!

I have been a devoted follower and admirer of Maddy Prior since the early days of Steeleye Span. Over the decades, the rich quality of her vocals and her musical interpretations have remained sans pareil. Truly, what a blessing to have such a voice that gives so much pleasure to those that hear it. I daresay, she'll have no need to audition for the grand heavenly choir of all choirs based solely on her...Prior...musical history.

I love Prior's voice; I know it better from Steeleye Span songs, but this is delightful.
Random note: although the third and fourth verses of that hymn are rarely sung, they deal primarily with Christ's Second Coming, expanding the metaphor of reaping by using His parable of the wheat and the tares and bringing in some of John's Revelation imagery. Either way, it's an excellent song to sing at harvest's end!
