Rock 'n roll - air travel edition

There were extremely dangerous wind shear and crosswind conditions at the airport of Salzburg, Austria yesterday.  This flight nearly came a cropper as it touched down, saved only by the quick reactions of the pilots, who took off again at once - and headed back to their airport of origin, rather than try to land again.  I can't say I blame them!

First, how it looked to observers.

Next, how it looked from inside the plane.  There's no sound on this video, so don't adjust your computer's volume.

Time for everyone aboard to change their underwear, I'd say!

Pilot: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Captain: Define interesting.
Pilot: Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?
Captain (on intercom) This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then ... explode.
(to pilot): Can we save the vector?
Pilot: I'm doing it, it's not enough!
Captain: Well just... get us on the ground.
Pilot: That part'll happen pretty definitely!

Thank goodness it wasn't an Airbus. The computer might have decided they'd already landed and cut the engine.

I've said this before, but if Boeing had a tailhook option, there are pilots who can do consistent three-wire traps. It may be much harder to re-orient the runway into the wind, but flying it down to the deck stays the same.
