There were lots of kayakers out on the water near Moss Landing, California the other day, watching the breaching humpback whales. Guess what happened? (Watch in full-screen mode for best results.)
You can read more about the incident here. If I were them, I'd go buy a lottery ticket, quick!

As usual, you find the greatest stuff. I have shared it with others.
They're lucky they are alive... Play stupid games with large animals, win stupid (Darwin) prizes... Sigh
At the link:
"But the [previous] worst thing to have happened to him was getting bitten by a coati – a forest badger – in Mexico"
A "forest badger"?
Do the Brits refer to North American raccoons as "ring-tail badgers"?
Not that I can sneer, I suppose: "Tomato" in Chinese translates to "foreign eggplant".
I hate to disagree with you, but those two should stay away from the lottery. I don't think they have any luck left.
I kayaked and skin-dived (dove?) in Monterey Bay several times when I was stationed there. Beautiful place, but there are a lot of really big critters in those waters.
They will NEVER get the stain or the smell outta that kayak . . . . .
