I think this may be the most debilitating seasonal cold and flu that I've ever experienced. I've had two very unpleasant weeks, and this week, from Christmas Day until yesterday, I was almost completely out of it. I slept up to 18 hours a day, and had no energy whatsoever. I couldn't even eat - no desire for food whatsoever.
Yesterday saw the start of healing, I think. By late afternoon I was feeling more human, and was able to keep down some food - although much less than I normally eat. I'll try to do better today.
Friends, if you catch the current bug, please be very careful. It'll exploit any physical weakness you have and beat you over the head with it. A "normal" seasonal bug hits me for only one or two weeks, but I think this is going to keep me pinned down for double that.
Anyway . . . enough complaining. Onward!

I hope you recover from this. I have been lucky to have never been infected by Covid, flu or any other major 'bug'. But I've had mild cold symptoms for a long time (over 3 months), never completely recovering over 24 hours. Rather annoying.
Feel better soon.
Good thing you have (ahem) "reserves" on you. :-)
Wishing you all the best.
Technically/historically seasonal bugs got weaker in their yearly morph, that is until the DNA splicing and manipulation by modern Mengele’s thinking they are geniuses, to make them “more lethal” under the excuse for better “vaccines” (which aren’t). Then, for reasons one could assume, they intentionally unleashed their Pandora’s Box experiments onto an unsuspecting public who thought a garage full of toilet paper would save them. Whatever it is going around has morphed into something else that tanks human systems for longer. Flu/corona/?, hard to know but the remedies are the same; OTC Ivermectin (human dosages from online, not equine from the feed store), Hydroxy…, Zinc, immune boosters…and chicken soup with lots of fluids and rest until your body gains the upper hand.
Prayers up for full recovery and a return to life as you like it!
I wonder how much of the increased nastiness of cold and flu season the past two winters has to do with the generally reduced immune systems due to staying away from other people for the last four years. Cause last winter was apparently also really bad.
Also note that our immune systems weaken as we age. So expect to have trouble shedding some illnesses more than when you were younger.
I have had the same-both in length and intensity, although a couple months ago. I believe (w/o looking it up...) that LL warned us of this year's flu several months ago, calling it a BEAST. Unfortunately, he is correct.

I know this is too late but this is the recipe I used as Jewish penicillin for my wife from prepper stocks this Dec. Two cups Walmart chicken broth, one 20 0z can chunk chicken breast, celery seed, turmeric. No fresh veggies, clear broth only. Boil, simmer for several hours. She didn't get worse, and much better in the morning. Results may vary. ;-)
Peter, isn't that kind of the hard way to diet?
@FeralFerret: Oh, brother . . . you have no idea!
Glad to hear you are feeling better!
I have been sick for a solid month. Got flu A beginning of December . wife had it and got over it in 3 days.. daughter had it and was over it in a 5 days.
Me over 7 days of misery lost 14 lbs. Losing liquids from every place you can lose them. Throwing up for days. COVID was better than this bout of flu.
around day 6 or 7 lost the fever and started to get better. within 3 more days started rattling in my left lung. didn't go away... didn't go away.. ok.. called VA and they said go to hospital but we don't promise we will pay the bill. (*S(&(^**%() I said I don't have the money to pay a hospital bill (fuck that) pardon my language but its a direct quote of what I said to the telephone nurse. Then she said oh well you can go to doctors care and we will pay that.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sigh.
whole county is down sick. got my sister to take me to doctors care 2 days later and was seen in a couple hours which was pretty quick given the circumstances that half their staff was out sick with this stuff also.
I mostly controlled conversation and said... im getting pneumonia and want some antibiotics to treat it. She listened to lungs and said.. oh yes you do have some fluid in your left lung... here is your prescription.. So that was better than a lot of my doctor appointments this year.
7 days of Doxycycline and my lungs no longer gurgle but now i have thick goo at the back of my throat to the point feel like im strangling half the time and it seems to be getting worse. I'm weak as a kitten and have lost so much weight my clothes are hanging off me. At least I'm eating normally again. haven't worked in a month... being sick like this scare's me.
Hope all the rest of you sick with something get over it easy and quick.. if not know that my thoughts are with you.
Scott
