The latest Clinton scandal (YAWWWWWNNN...)

The 'revelation' that the FBI will reopen its investigation into the Clinton e-mail scandal, on the basis of 'new evidence' found on Anthony Weiner's laptop computer in a different investigation, has got the news media and the blogosphere buzzing.  There's all sorts of frantic speculation about what it means, what it might uncover, and what it might imply for US politics.

My reaction is a big fat yawn.

What does it mean?  It means that we have yet more evidence (as if we didn't have enough already) of corruption and incompetence in the Hillary Clinton campaign. If Huma Abedin could swear, under oath, that she'd handed over any and all devices containing e-mails from or to or concerning Hillary Clinton, only to have this new evidence come to light, she was either lying under oath, or incredibly forgetful about where such e-mails might be located, or just plain stupid.  The same goes for her boss, for not checking, double-checking and triple-checking that all evidence had been dealt with, one way or another.  New scandal?  Nope.  Just the same old, same old.

What might it uncover?  It might uncover more evidence (as if we didn't have enough already) of corruption and incompetence in the Hillary Clinton campaign.  Same old, same old.

What might it imply for US politics?  It might imply will confirm yet again (as if it hadn't already been confirmed, many times over) that Hillary Clinton, her husband Bill, the Clinton Foundation, and almost anyone involved with any or all of them, is/are corrupt.  Same old, same old.

I remain astonished that anyone in their right mind could vote for Hillary Clinton to be President of the United States, what with all the evidence of corruption and criminality that's come to light about her over the years.  It's like workers at an infectious disease laboratory voting to elect the smallpox virus as their new boss.

I sincerely hope that this new scandal will persuade some currently pro-Hillary voters to no longer support her.  However, the choices available to them (and to us) aren't much better, all things considered.  As I've said before, this election (like so many others) comes down to voting for the lesser of the evils confronting us.  There isn't a single candidate to whom I can point and say, "This person deserves to be President."  On the other hand, given the moral malaise infecting our society in so many ways (and against which so few of us are willing to take a stand), I can point to any of the current crop of candidates and say, "America probably deserves a President like this!"

And so we vote for the lesser of the evils confronting us.  Would Benjamin Franklin regard that as 'keeping' the republic he, and the other Founding Fathers, created for us?  I venture to doubt it.

This one might be a bit different Peter. This one might just be the FBI announcing that it's investigating the Clinton Foundation's ties to international sex trafficking. If it is, then Hillary's done.

Good stuff Peter. Government reflects the people. Anyway, if you can't find a worse candidate then "A" then don't vote for "A". If you can't find a better candidate than "B" then vote for "B". Let's all vote for Trump-Pence.

It is actually easy to understand why an otherwise rational adult will vote for Hillary.
When I lived in Louisiana, it was during the tenure of Edwin Edwards, a known crook. Edwin continued to win, over and over. Bribery was pointed out, fake contracts awarded, gambling and bimbos aplenty. "Sure he is a crook", they would say with a wry grin, "But he's OUR crook", and they kept supporting him.
Thus, Hillary's base will continue to support her, no matter what wrongdoing is brought to light, because she is THEIR crook. They believe she won't do any harm to THEM, after all, they elected her!

It could be that the "device" which has the emails was in the FBI's possession before the Hillary Email investigation started and the boys stumbled onto the info. If that's the case maybe Huma, technically, told the truth. Then the question will be how did that many emails get there. A "backup" maybe?

Your yaaawwnn is a telling moment in this election. The populace is tired; tired of all of this hoopla. We can't wait for the event to be over. And THAT'S the strategy: make the bizarre seem normal and people will ignore it.
People have made up their minds about which lever they are going to pull. Only the pundits are wallowing in the filth squalling in delight at their "insights".
Please Lord, let it be to Your liking; amen.

I think this is a consequence of 'honest' people not wanting to get involved in politics and having their lives and that of their families dragged through the mud for a year or more...

The Clintons have a 'reputation', well deserved, for bending/breaking the law for personal gain. Nothing new here...

Over the weekend I was made aware of the republican part platform for 2016, and from what I can tell it's the most conservative platform in at least my lifetime (1980's baby) and probably earlier. I'm not voting for trump, as he in no way reflects my values and morals in life... but I will vote for the republican platform.

I challenge you guys to at least skim over it.

Instead of saying, "I'm voting for the lesser of two evils", my perspective is I'm hiring someone to do a job; after all the searching and Want Ads, I have two candidates. Neither of them is ideal, but I really need to get this job done and don't have enough hands to do it myself. Therefore I'll hire the best qualified of the two applicants I have to choose from.

Because you are hiring someone to work for you. You are faced with two applicants, neither one of which you'd really prefer, but you don't have the ability to do the job yourself. All you do is hire the best one you can get.

Peter,
I'll refer to Robert A. Heinlein for a very applicable quote.
Best Regards,
Mike T.
“If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for ... but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong.”

― Robert A. Heinlein, Time Enough for Love

You've hit the nail on the head, in my opinion.

We always knew that after Obama next logical step is either lgbt community member, either commie, or woman. Don't feel insulted - nothing wrong here, it is just next step in liberalism.
However, never had imagined that opposite option will be Trump ! Now choice is bad vs worse.
