OK, that's big!

A Belarus manufacturer of heavy earthmoving and mining equipment has just announced the world's largest truck.  It's the BelAZ 75710, a monster that can carry no less than 495 US tons (450 metric tonnes) of earth and rock around open-cast mines.  It uses 4,600hp electric motors to move the load.  Here's a Russian-language video of its launch.

OK . . . that's a big truck!  I wonder how many standard pickups like my Ford F-150 it could stack in its load bed?

I like the little hover-drone flying through at about the 1:00 mark. Likely has a camera on it. Funny world.

Yep, gallons per mile with that puppy! :-)

When I worked on large earthmoving equipment years ago, I was told that the biggest costs in running an open-pit mine were fuel, tires, and labor, in that order.

I feel a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of hippies suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.

That "hover drone" would be an FPV Hexacopter of some kind. They're really cool, especially with a Gopro on a gimbal. I'm just learning to fly RC helicopters. FPV is the reason why.

Only 495? How about a ship that can carry 75,000? :)
