Our Doofi today are a couple from Monterrey in Mexico.
Police say a woman who begged from a wheelchair was caught running from a crime scene on foot in Monterrey, Mexico. Police spokeswoman Sidlayin Robles says 30-year-old Ana Victoria Perez fled on foot after she and her husband allegedly threw a stone through the front window of a furniture store.
Perez was a regular fixture along a main Monterrey road, asking for change from motorists as she sat in a wheelchair pushed by her husband.
Robles said Monday that the couple apparently planned to rob the furniture store but were scared off by a security guard. They have been charged with vandalism.
Police arrested the couple when they returned for the wheelchair.
Y'know, fake begging is nothing new. Trying to rob a store is a step up the criminal ladder, but still nothing out of the ordinary. But going back to get the wheelchair, when you don't even need it?
That takes doofidity to a whole new level!

We lived in Monterrey from 2000-late 2002 - not only does one have folks faking it in wheelchairs, there are those who 'share' their progeny - one mamacita may take the morning shift, with HER kids & those of several other families; another mamacita will take the afternoon/evening shift, with the same gaggle of youngsters - we called'em 'rent-a-kids' - funny story, as we were driving into Monterrey for the first time, we stopped at a light - bear in mind, we're in a '98 Dodge 1500 - we were swarmed by a bunch of adolescent boys, jumping on the hood of the truck, etc. - one held a U.S. quarter on the FodGuy's window, with crocodile tears streaming down his face - the door of the truck has an inset where we keep change - I was ready to take all the change in MY door & throw it in out AWAY from the truck, in front of other vehicles or not - the Texas tags were apparently the trigger ..........................

The wheelchair was probably a big investment in their "business". And there's no one waiting to bail them out when their business fails!
