The Swiss Army Knife goes electronic

Back in June last year I wrote about a Swiss Army Knife like never before, with 87 tools and 141 functions. Well, there's a new SAK model that's just been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The Presentation Pro, which is designed to help survive the urban jungle rather than a literal one, features a removable USB flashdrive with 32GB memory, a laser pointer, and most remarkably, fingerprint recognition.

The tool also boasts a facility that allows users to store all their passwords securely, and Bluetooth, which means it can even double as a computer mouse.

In the tradition of the famous penknife, the Presentation Pro also features a standard blade, some scissors and a file.

The penknife's creators believe that its unique fingerprint security feature makes it a secure way to carry information. 'It doesn't matter if you lose it, no-one can hack into your information,' said designer Martin Kuster.

Sounds impressive! I just hope its owners remember to close the knife blade before waving it around to use its Bluetooth mouse function . . . otherwise they might inflict grievous bodily harm on themselves and/or their co-workers!

And don't forget, you can't fly with it, no matter how well it plugs into your laptop.
