Yes, you planted the pot upside down, stem goes up. A simple way to remember, when planting pots, spaghetti and tomato sauce, put it in the ground a little over half way but not quite 2/3rds in the ground. Your area may be different, I plant during the full moon around Easter. Generally I can begin harvesting the crops about the time the meatballs are ready to be picked from the tree.
