Our latest and nameless hero comes from Germany, where he stole a collection of old coins valued at $80,000.
Three days later he'd obviously had time to think, and probably realized that what he had stolen from another might also be stolen from him. What to do?
In a flash of inspiration, he took them to the bank and deposited them for safe-keeping.
What he hadn't counted on was that the bank official inspecting them turned out to be the man from whom he'd stolen them in the first place!
"I don't think the thief was expecting that," said a spokesman for police in the western city of Dortmund on Tuesday.
. . .
Police tracked down the 36-year-old suspect and arrested him, securing a haul of other stolen goods in the process.
*gigglesnort!*
