Sanity has left the room...

I was mind-boggled to read this report.

It isn’t good enough that men want to compete in woman’s sports and invade women’s spaces, rendering sex-based protections null and void. Now, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) has published the findings from the largest study on its kind, “Perceptions and Motivations for Uterus Transplant in Transgender Women.”

This study looked at reproductive aspirations of transgender women (biological males). Surveying 182 transgender women, researchers found that more than 90 percent believed that a uterine transplant might “improve quality of life in transgender women, alleviate dysphoric symptoms, and enhance feelings of femininity.”

. . .

Also, the authors found that transgender women “may expect the ability to menstruate to enhance satisfaction with their desired gender and uterus transplant and anticipate improvements in perceptions of their femininity.” Those surveyed also cited that potentially having a functional vagina transplanted might also enhance sexual function and quality of life.

There's more at the link.

If I chose to have horse, or pig, or deer body parts "transplanted" (or, more accurately, surgically inserted, because they aren't taking the place of one of my organs) into my body, it wouldn't make me one iota more horsy, or piggy, or deer-y (is that even a word?).  All it would do is demonstrate that I'm an idiot, and the medical personnel who performed the operation are even more so!

As we've pointed out in these pages on previous occasions, one's sex is determined by one's chromosomes, not one's desires.  If your chromosomes are XX, you're a female.  If they're XY, you're a male.  That's the end of the discussion, right there.  To pretend that the insertion of female body parts into a male body would somehow make it more female is not only physically and medically stupid, it's mentally ill!  It won't change the chromosomes, and therefore it won't change the sex or gender (or anything else) of the recipient.  It will, of course, change their state of health, most likely for the worse, but that's their problem.

This arrant stupidity is so off-the-charts that I have no words to describe it.  All I can say is, if anyone is so insane as to want to do that, they should be locked up in isolation, for their own sake and for the safety of society.  There's no place for them among the normal.

We're in Heinlein's crazy years. I read a science fiction book by him back in the '70's, where he said that, "transgender surgery was so common that a chromosome check was the only way to be sure."

At the time, I thought he was being ridiculous, but apparently he saw the future better than I did.

Let’s say that I believe myself to be a gorilla. No matter how strongly I believe it, I am still not a gorilla.
Let’s say that I take pills to make myself grow more hair to look more like a gorilla. I am still not a gorilla.
If I hire a surgeon to perform an operation to make myself look more like a gorilla, I am still not a gorilla.
If I get a million people to say that I can be whatever I identify myself as, and declare than I am a gorilla, I am still not a gorilla.
If I were to believe myself to be a gorilla and took the steps above, people would say I am crazy.

Someone posted an article by the "reality czar" advocates saying that there is no advantage in athletic performance between transgender women (that is, men) and genetic women.

Saying something is so doesn't make it so.

Take the Tour de France. It has been running every year for over a hundred years. Winners get all kinds of recognition and money. No woman has sneaked into the Tour and won. There is a Tour de France for women. Their records are never as fast as the men's records. USA Powerlifting keeps transgender women out of their women's competitions for the same reason.

The fact that they think of themselves as women and do all this (crazy from an objective point of view) stuff to feel more "feminine" is not the problem as long as their mindset and way of life does not negatively impact someone else's way of life. The moment this changes they lost their right to do whatever they want!
In plain text: they can be as crazy as they want as long as their craziness only afects themselves.

I saw Rand Paul questioning a potential Biden appointment asking if he thought it fair to have a man compete with women. Asked him 4 times and could not get a straight answer.

It's right out of 1984 when Winston is made to believe 2 + 2 = 5.

I hate to keep circling back but you can lay all of our problems right at the feet of the teacher's unions. They have been working for over 100 years to destroy our culture, institutions, history and traditions.

I'd say mission accomplished.

How many women would be uterus-donors for a "man" to be a trans-woman? (Inquiring minds want to know...)

Unknown said...

As a happy woman, I can assure these people that my uterus only informs my state of mind when it is misbehaving. It does not make me more or less of a woman to have it. In fact, as I won't have children for other health reasons, I would be happy to get rid of it. (I would not however donate it!) I'd still be a woman. Furthermore, for the many women out there who have had a hysterectomy, to suggest they are less of a woman because they no longer have a uterus (which is what this is suggesting) is a massive, massive insult. But then the whole trans thing is a huge insult to both sexes and to the concept of sanity...

@Sam L: maybe they can trade genitals with the women who want to be men.
There's always corpses, of course.
Or the government might mandate that women who have uteri be required to give theirs to transwomen who don't. "From each according to her ability, to each according to his need", and all that.

See also "When Gravity Fails" by George Alec Effinger - that one even has implated uteri, too.

Promoting transgenderism might be a way for the left to demonize white masculinity. Push young white guys into becoming "women" so that they fit in better and follow the rules.

Sex/gender congruency seems to be a concept foreign here. I was born male, will die male, but with medical help I have attained a sense of congruency within myself. I get ya'all don't understand how ANYONE could BE one sex but BE a different gender - it is rare, it is difficult to validate and often difficult to separate from other issues. Issues often caused by unsupportive parents/family/community, bullying, depression - if you've never felt betrayed by your own body, looked at yourself in a mirror and HATED what you've seen/become.

It IS a mental disorder - the mind and the body do not align but YOU can't see that. And because YOU can't see it, you assume it can't exist - after all, 99% of people never had an issue with THEIR body/identity.

I am not saying everyone that claims an issue with gender identity is otherwise mentally sound, but for the % that work with therapists and other medical professionals - transitioning HELPS. As to the point of the article, such a transplant in and of itself would not make me feel more congruent, it is a successful operations results that would enhance it.

If it were consistently done well, I'd sign up.

Oh, I don't support Biden's move. I do not support the Equality Act. I do not support medical transitioning for minors.

I see that it is a mental disorder. I just disagree that dealing with any mental disorder means that the rest of us has to play along.
If someone is anorexic, we don't force everyone else to play along and agree that a person who is anorexic is fat because that is how they identify themselves- we teach them to have a healthier self image.

There are people who feel like their limbs are not really theirs and should be removed. We shouldn't let them cut off their arms.

The same for suicide- just because a person identifies as needing to be dead doesn't mean that we will allow or help them to kill themselves.

Just like the answer to drug addition isn't supplying the addict with their drug of choice.

Any person who refuses to identify with real, objective reality doesn't need others to play along with their psychosis- what they need is psychological help.

It isn't that we fail to understand the problem, it is that we fundamentally disagree on treatment, and we further refuse to partake in your false identity along with you.

What nobody is talking about is the long-term cost of organ transplant.

Any transplant, from kidney, to face, to arteries, veins, hearts, livers, lungs, comes with a corresponding life-long taking of anti-rejection drugs.

Which are not conducive to maintaining a pregnancy.

So, get a uterus transplanted, go on anti-rejection drugs, screw one's immune system up and still most likely never be able to carry to term, or have a menstrual cycle.

All of which will be required to be covered by insurance. While insurance companies are at the same time forced to reduce mental consoling fees and instances.

Yep. We's hosed.

The editors of NEJM and Lancet both maintain the majority of medical research in the 21st century is fraudulent. Go search...I am not hand-holding here...

With gorgesoros and others paying for research, why does that surprise?

Absent a moral code, society is doomed. A legal code just allows for selective enforcement of laws...say, for example, if a SecState decides to have her own server in her bathroom and gets hacked by 13 year-old halfwits, she didn't break the law because she had no "intent"....and that my friends is why a moral code is more important than science.

@Tracey Cole, I get the hate of your own body...believe me on that. But the problem is that the current culture is pushing gender transition as a solution to problems that are not actually gender problems, but are associated with puberty in a pressure cooker society. It is as if thirty years ago, they had pushed anorexia as the solution to growing breasts. Because anorexia kills fairly fast and we still treated it as a mental disorder, it never really caught on. But what I see now is the same screwed up kids who were anorexic are now transgender, and this go around the doctors are celebrating and encouraging it.
I would hope that people would recognize that for a very, very small segment of the population transitioning is the best solution to their issues. However, there is a much larger group which is being led down a path that exacerbates their mental/physical (hate the body in the mirror) issues, poisons their body, sterilizes them, and leads to lifelong medical expenses more often than not.

To @Unknown

People don't understand - and make little attempt to do so. At least you acknowledge it. I've tried to post comments anytime there is a 'pro-trans' discussion about making HRT availability easier or earlier that the medical community has abdicated it's responsibility to 'do no harm' and let people that should be carefully helped just abuse the current processes. Just like I comment on these type of posts that you can't take your prejudices and make policy over them.

YOU are absolutely correct that the transactivists are driving kids, mostly girls, into behaviors that will damage them irreparably. I strongly oppose their efforts and they are doing substantial damage to those that NEED the therapies and to those that SHOULD get them but are being led around the 'gatekeepers'.

I personally don't care what a person chooses to do with their body. I just don't think that:

1 The government has a place in forcing others to play along
2 or setting up conditions that encourage businesses to force people to play along

And that goes for both sides.
