Doofus Of The Day #755

Today's award goes to Google.

Online retailers work hard to ensure the first page of Google search results for their brand is as helpful and accurate as possible but, in the unpredictable world of the web, anything can happen.

Yesterday, viral news site UsVsTh3m noticed that Google searches for the British computer superstore PC World were returning a rather embarrassing result. Along with the usual links to PC World’s home page, the map showing nearby branches, and the snippet of information taken from Wikipedia, was this logo:

The image appears to have been taken from a 2008 article about rumoured job cuts in the company’s servicing and repair division, which replaced the words “The Computer Superstore” with “Like hell, but with worse customer service”.

PC World responded quickly to the incident, contacting Google to get the problem resolved. The search results page has now been updated to show the correct logo.

There's more at the link.

Er . . . oops?

That's funny, right there. And, of course, the Internet is forever. :)
