Yesterday, the first shots were fired in the Third Battle of Fort Sumter

The First Battle of Fort Sumter, in 1861, kicked off the first American Civil War.

The Second Battle of Fort Sumter, in 1863, saw Union forces attack the Confederate occupiers of the fort.

The Third Battle of Fort Sumter didn't take place at the fort at all.  It took place in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021, when "America's ruling class" raised a decisive, defiant and derogatory middle finger to everyone in this country who demands participatory democracy;  everyone in America who refuses to be ruled by diktat or told what to think (despite all evidence that contradicts the politically correct message).

Just as the First Battle of Fort Sumter launched the first American Civil War, so the Third Battle may herald the launch of the Second American Civil War.

Let us be quite clear.

  • The violence we saw in Washington yesterday was not democratic, and was not justifiable.  However, it was in reaction to the equally - if not more - undemocratic and unjustifiable violence exercised by "politically correct" forces in America over the past year.  It was a good deal less destructive and less dishonest than the latter;  but it's being criticized a lot more harshly than what went before, precisely and only because the powers that be find it expedient to do so.  This is hypocrisy, pure and simple.

  • The evidence of electoral fraud that brought out the crowds in Washington D.C. yesterday is clear, overwhelming and incontrovertible.  We've covered a great deal of it in these pages over the past two months, so I won't bother to repeat it all in this article.  Suffice it to say that anyone claiming the allegations of electoral fraud are "unsubstantiated" or "unproven" or "without evidence" is deliberately lying to you.  They're advancing their own agenda, not searching for the truth.
  • Yesterday we saw the so-called "Uniparty" - the professional politicians of both major parties who work together to ensure that the country is run according to their whims (or, rather, the whims of those who control them) - in action.  Every politician, Republican or Democrat, who voted to confirm Joe Biden as our next President was deliberately denying - and defying - an overwhelming mountain of evidence that the Democratic Party stole the election from President Trump.  Every one of them is complicit in electoral fraud.  Every one of them must be held accountable for that.

So . . . where to from here?  If our "ruling class" has decisively lifted their collective middle fingers to the rest of us, how do we stop them from running the country for their benefit rather than ours?  I advanced some ideas yesterday, but they may already have been overtaken by events.  What next?

Here are a few ideas.

  1. If the Uniparty and its Big Tech corporate sponsors (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google et al.) and its mainstream media mouthpieces (every major TV news organization, every major newspaper, etc.) all parrot the same "party line", that's a very good indication it's not trustworthy.  They're out to brainwash or gaslight you.  Be appropriately suspicious.  In particular, distrust people and positions they tell you to trust, and vice versa.
  2. You'll find that a great deal of news is either mis-reported, or not reported at all.  Learn to look deeper for details of what's happening.  Sadly, many alternative news outlets are equally untrustworthy, so you'll have to develop an inquiring mind and your own list of reliable sources.  (For US politics and related areas, mine include John Solomon, Sharyl Attkisson, Spinquark and the Wall Street Journal - the last being definitely mainstream media, but more objective than most of its ilk.  It's the only major newspaper I find balanced enough to merit a paid subscription.)
  3. Withdraw financial support from every corporation associated with the Uniparty and controlling, rather than informing, the American people.  They include every TV/video subscription channel (Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Apple TV, etc.), because their content is more brainwashing than entertainment.  (Look at the politically correct messaging in so many movies and TV series to see what I mean.  To name just one example, the last three Star Wars movies were a sick caricature of the franchise's former glory.  See also Netflix's antics to move the moral Overton window with its programming.)  Therefore, cancel your subscription(s) to such services, and refuse to give them another cent of your hard-earned money.  If you really must see something they offer, try to find a free copy somewhere, or have one person in your group of friends record it for the rest.
  4. Cancel your social media accounts everywhere that opposes free speech.  That includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and their ilk.  Choose to support social media that explicitly and openly advocate free speech, and refuse to censor their members.  Also, be suspicious of any attempt by mainstream media to intimidate or smear such independent social media, as the New York Times attempted to do to Gab and Parler yesterday.  (Gab's response is here, if you're interested.  I've been on Gab almost since its inception, because I support free, uncensored speech as a fundamental right.)
  5. Do all you can to let your Congressional representative and Senators know that you expect them to be responsive to the will of their constituents.  If they are, all well and good.  If they're not, publicize that to your friends, family and associates, and spread the word that you need to find and elect better politicians.  If enough of us do that, the message will be received and understood.
  6. Be prepared to get involved in local politics as a first step towards reforming national issues.  Encourage potential candidates to stand against incumbents in primary elections (my rule of thumb is, always vote against incumbents unless their track record is such as to make them worthwhile).  Do what you can to be a political gadfly, stinging and irritating the complacent.
  7. Support efforts to destabilize and disrupt our present "Uniparty", two-party-only political system.  This includes their efforts to raise funds, whip up support, and crush opposition.  As a general principle, if the Uniparty is against something, support it;  if the Uniparty is for something, oppose it.

What about more "kinetic" measures?  I've been in three civil war situations during my life.  I've seen at first hand the havoc, destruction, misery and catastrophe that accompany them.  I have little doubt that we're in for some of that in this country as well - but it won't be like the first American Civil War.  It'll be more like the Balkans in the 1990's, where regions will fight against their neighbors.  The region can be suburb against suburb, town against town, state against state, but will most likely not involve armies and military operations.  It'll be a fourth-generation warfare struggle, where anywhere and everywhere can become the front line at any time.  Thuggery and low-level terrorism are more likely than set-piece battles.  I've already written at some length about what I see coming.

A friend posted this meme on MeWe overnight:

I think a lot of people are feeling that way this morning.  Whether or not you do, dear reader, I suggest that conflict is now upon us.  It can no longer be avoided.  Each and every one of us will be forced to take a stand, whether we want to or not.  We'll have to go with the vision of our Founding Fathers, and defend our constitutional republic and individual rights;  or we'll have to abandon their vision, and instead work for political correctness, socialism and the domination of the individual by the group.

Whether or not our choice involves violence, we have to make it.  It's no longer possible to stand idly by and let others do their thing.  We're all involved now.  The Uniparty made its choice clear yesterday.  What is our - your - response?

I'll let Tucker Carlson have the last word.

In the face of dissent, the first instinct of illegitimate leadership is to crack down on the population, but crackdowns never make it better. They always make the country more volatile and more dangerous. The people in charge rarely understand that. They don't care to learn or listen, because all of this conversation is a referendum on them and their leadership. So they clamp down harder.

This is the Romanov program, and it ends badly every single time. But that doesn't mean they won't try it again. Of course they will, because it's their nature. It's how we got here in the first place.

Millions of Americans sincerely believe the last election was fake. You can dismiss them as crazy. You can call them conspiracy theorists. You can kick them off Twitter. But that won't change their minds. Rather than trying to change their minds, to convince them and reassure them that the system is real, that democracy works -- which you would do if you cared about the country or the people who live here -- our new leaders will try to silence them.

What happened Wednesday will be used by the people taking power to justify stripping you of the rights you were born with as an American: Your right to speak without being censored, your right to assemble, to not be spied upon, to make a living, and to defend your family.

These are the most basic and ancient freedoms that we have. They're why we live here in the first place. They're why we're proud to be Americans. They're what make us different, and they're all now in peril.

When thousands of your countrymen storm the Capitol building, you don't have to like it. We don't. You can be horrified by the violence, and we are.

But if you don't bother to pause and learn a single thing from your citizens storming your Capitol building, then you're a fool, you lack wisdom and self-awareness, and you have no place running a country. We got to this sad, chaotic day for a reason.

Word.

Word, indeed. I intend to show this new regime (NOT Administration) the same or worse respect Donald has gotten these four years. Too old and brittle for kenetic actions, except in dire situation...
God Speed, my friends, we'll need it.

I’m waiting to hear that the Capitol Policer officer who shot Ashli Babbitt in cold blood has been charged with murder.

There seems to be a very good chance that the people who "stormed" the Capital were 'false-flag' ANTIFA lead. Early reports from a facial recognition software company are that at least 3-4 of the clowns who assaulted the bldg had been with Atifa in the streets of Philly. Washington Times had the story.

History repeats itself, just 80 years later.

Andy Ngo reports that it doesn't bear the hallmarks of Antifa (and he's been watching them carefully for several years).

Yep, agent provocateurs were mixed in with the actual Trump supporters. It has come to this because of the elites actions.

A civil war scenario is becoming more likely. And, yeah, its going to be more like the Balkans in the early 90's than like the original civil war, which was really a set piece war between two states. BTW, I ordered and read the first of the two books by the guy that survived the Balkans war. I'm likely to buy and read the second one. I know the Balkans was ugly. I've met people from all three sides of it. I have also seen a photo (actually a photo of a photo, thankfully) of a cardboard box filled with severed heads from that war. This was around '93. True civil wars are ugly affairs because it is neighbor against neighbor, brother against brother. This really messes with peoples' heads. It is not where you are fight "the other".

I have never been in a military and have never been in any combat. But people who have killed tell me that the experience of killing people changes you on a root psychological level.

Five or ten years ago I never thought it would become like this. But I'm beginning to think that the Leviathan may have to be destroyed, and that is going to be a very nasty affair.

Amazing, that so many are surprised at the corruption in Washington---as if this sort of thing was anything new and unprecedented. Any thinking person would have had to have figured out long ago how generally rigged the whole system is par for the course.
There have always been the "disenfranchised"---the low-income, the minorities, the homeless, the social misfits, and so forth. But, now, it's the middle-brow that have been added to that "laundry list". And,those middle-brows, having themselves also lived comfortably---although paycheck-to-paycheck and maybe in debt---still enjoying material wealth and affording decent to passable places to live, but now finding themselves facing destitution and such, are now traumatized because, unlike the low-status types who've lived that way all their lives, these types of situations are quite alien to them as they're not mentally equipped to handle them---and, as such, they're panicking.
Somewhat similar to the "Occupy" situation of the early 2010s, when a lot of "normal" folks found themselves in dire straits economically or even on the brink of homelessness. It's "not supposed to be happening to 'regular' folks like them" and all that.

This is NOT inevitable... I know there is a tendency in the followers of the protestant religions to always be looking out for end times and with unfortunately some hopefulness because Christ returns after the tribulations but that is NOT whats happening here.

I have hope that this brush with disaster (and by brush I mean 4 years of Trump that peaks last night will be a wakeup call for america) -- its clearly that we were given a 4 year lesson of the extreme, and it ended on the precipice; but the message was received. There was wrong on both sides and the fact that you don't see that is part of the problem -- I for one have my eyes wide open now and see that the true path of Christ is peace, loving my fellow man and making this country, which was ordained to greatements by God, even better - not by violence, but but understanding and caring.

Civil war will not be the solution -- following in the foot steps of Christ is the only path.. peace and love.

So you're leaving Blogspot.com, Peter? I mean it is run by Google.

Don't know about you, but they might make a whole thousandth of a cent off me in a year, with a couple of K-views a day and no monetization that I get anything from.

I think you'll find that if you boycott every company with ties to the uniparty, you're going to sit in the dark doing nothing a lot.

All that touchy-feely breath-holding tantruming may feel good, but the only way left to accomplish anything is going to be to start shooting m*****f*****s in the face.
A lot.

Not wanting it, not even wishing it, but I'm way past denial, anger, bargaining, and depression. It's time for acceptance, and getting on with what has to happen.

Anybody wants to talk about reconciliation after it's over, and minimizing the slaughter that must necessarily occur, I'm all ears.

Right after we dictate terms on a pile of the enemy's dead bodies, with a sword tip at his throat.

They started this, when they decided stealing an election was in-bounds. They dealt the hand, now it's time to show, and settle up.

We must aim to end it. Once and for all.

Even if that means we have 100M-200M fewer traitorous Americans standing afterwards, I'm fine with that.

We didn't fight our way to the top of the food chain to eat soyburgers and have whiny librarians lecture us on our pronouns.

A partial quote from C. S. Lewis (author of the Chronicles Of Narnia series) :

The greatest evil ... is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voices. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the office of a thoroughly nasty business concern."

President Trump was constantly being slagged for not being "presidential" enough.
Those "presidential" politicians are the ones who created President Trump.

I know some of you will consider me to be hopelessly naive, but I just sent this to my Tennessee state representative and senator:

“I want to address you both on an issue I consider urgent and possibly concerning the continued existence of our country.

“We have now witnessed two elections in which the left in this country has blatantly stolen the election, hardly even pretending they weren’t doing so (the November presidential election and the Georgia senatorial election just past). Yesterday’s protest in Washington (which was notably not a riot in the form of the Antifa/BLM riots we witnessed over most of 2020) is already being used as justification for further abrogation of the US Constitution against anyone in our country who isn’t either part of the leftist cabal that is clearly controlling the federal government or a nominally conservative politician who is trying to appease the cabal in the hope of retaining whatever power they allow him to have. It pains me to say it, but it really has become the US federal government against the American people.

“I urge you to open discussions in the General Assembly about making Tennesee an overt 10th Amendment Sanctuary state, analogous to the leftist pro-illegal-immigration sanctuary states. Make it clear that in Tennessee, all federal government activity will be examined according to what the federal government is given authority to do by the US Constitution, and any federal activity with no Constitutional justification will not be allowed in Tennessee. Not only will state authorities not assist in such activities, they will actively oppose said activities. This would not be secession from the US, just insisting on the proper division of authority between the federal government and the Tennessee state government.

“I further urge you to open discussions with the General Assemblies of other like-minded states (Texas comes to mind) to persuade them to pass similar resolutions, and to regularize the language of all such resolutions so that a de facto 10th Amendment Sanctuary coalition would be formed. I ask that you do this in the hope of fending off the incipient civil war that I fear we may be coming very close to. I hope this can work, and that it isn’t a forlorn hope action. But if we don’t make the attempt, we might as well start arming up, I’m afraid.

“Thank you for your consideration.”

I can’t insist, but if any of you feel like sending a similar message to your state representatives, feel free to use the wording I wrote here.

The Bayou Renaissance Man blog and its commenters are a rare island of sanity in a sea of Big Tech-dominated, communist-influenced, gaslighting legacy and social media and, on the other side, a much smaller number of flat-out delusional, hopium-peddling fools and snake-oil salesmen ("Trust the plan!" "POTUS will cross the Rubicon!" "It will be glorious!").

Long may BRM continue. I pray to the Almighty to preserve Peter Grant and allow him better health. And may every one of this blog's commenters make it through the coming troubles unscathed.

Need clarification please - was the comment above by Peter of BRM, or someone else? If it was by someone else, to make that comment without so identifying yourself was negligent or deceptive.

As to the stereotype of protestants as always being obsessed with apocalyptic themes, that was just not correct or very charitable. We don't have God's timetable. While we must not fall into the "where is the promise of His coming?" skeptical mindset, [Maranatha! by the way!] so as a protestant, as to that, my only known scriptural mandate is to live my life so as to be found faithful and pleasing to Him on that day, should it come in my lifetime. And a lot of pretty horrible evil stuff has happened in the last two thousand years, and it was not the end of the Age.

In the meantime, we're here and now, in the situation our country is currently experiencing. The anger and outrage are real, and reasonable. Short of the Democrats becoming full-on mass-murdering Nazis, I don't see a biblical basis for individual "kinetic" action by professing Christian believers against evil political people, TEMPTING AS IT MAY FEEL, and I don't see godly examples of it in church history. If this nation fractures or descends into crippling intramural violence, China wins. Only China wins. Ponder that. This comment probably will not be popular, but watch out, watch out, watch out for people inciting others toward violence. Agents provocateur exist. They won't have your back if you act on their ideas -- they never do -- and might even Benedict Arnold you.

Sitting here heartbroken tonight. A young woman I never heard of named Ashli Babbit was gunned down in cold blood by a uniformed thug for no other reason than being in a building that we all own. I going to keep saying her name over and over so nobody can forget.

My Great X3 Grandfather was named Thomas J. Higgins and he earned the Congressional Medal of Honor at the Battle of Vicksburg during the Civil War. Like so many others he put his life on the line for the freedom of people he didn't even know. I can't help but think we screwed up the opportunity he and all the others gave us and I shudder to think what he would say about all this. We've been looking the other way as our government has become more and more corrupt over the years. If we had drawn the line years ago maybe we could have turned things in a different direction but I am afraid it has gone too far this time. Best to all the readers here and thanks to BRM for this space to air out our thoughts.

Etaoin Shrdlu, as to your sentiment about the CCP, I fully agree. My view is that if we descend into armed conflict, if the Democrat supported side is losing, the Democrat supported side will call for the U.N. to send in support. The majority of that support will be provided by the Peoples Liberation Army. The Chinese will take over and install a puppet government. What better scenario for the CCP.

DougLoss, that is an excellent thought. As a Texan, most of us are proud of our heritage of being a Free Republic, the only one recognized by other nations, that joined the Union and often talk of returning to that status despite the 1860's Civil War. Maybe enforcing the 10th Amendment at the State level would be better but I think the coming Federal Government would use force to stop such action.
