Since I'm currently experiencing my monthly migraine, I can confirm that I've always said I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. And a week later, well . . . I think she's right. If they actually got what they wished, I sincerely doubt they would want to be women.
My brother was a missionary in the Philippines, and while I don't believe he ever played cards with those stakes, I can confirm that he'd play to get people to stop drinking or chain-smoking - usually when they were dead drunk. Don't know if it ever worked. He'd also plant rice paddies or weed them while his companion taught the farmer. They were always surprised that an American boy could work so hard - and in a white shirt and tie no less!
