"Whatever happened to government BY the people OF the people & FOR the people?"

Neil Oliver asks that question in his usual inimitable style.  Highly recommended viewing.

Far too many US politicians, on both sides of the aisle, appear to think that President Lincoln's famous expression should really read, "government of our people, by our people, and for our people, and to hell with everybody else!"

Now part 2 should cover the structure of the US Constitution. Checks and Balances, that have been removed or changed. That the Federal Government only had a limited number of areas of action. How the original concept has changed into the Bureaucratic State, that makes regulations that effectively are laws passed by Bureaucrats. I fear the path forward is going to be a road of blood and terror or perhaps just a boot stamping on a human face forever. Atlas Shrugged and 1984 are both becoming fact instead of fiction and I don't know what to do for my children.

The irony of Lincoln's speech is that his war did away with that concept by instituting a powerful federal government making the states subservient to it.

It got terminally ill in 1789 and was finally put down in 1865.

Shows you how good their propaganda machine is. We haven't had that kind of government for generations.

That always ends in tears, and bloodshed.
Consequently, some people are stocking up on Kleenex and band-aids.

Wiser heads would suggest that acquiring more ammo is the way to go.

YMMV
