Transporting lumber, Russian style

Had a busy day and evening.  I'm too tired to put up blog posts now, so I'm going to hit the sack.  I'll put up more posts early tomorrow morning.

To keep you occupied until then, here's how one enterprising Russian motorist carried a stack of 2x4's home to mother.

Clearly, Russian traffic cops are as seldom there when you need them as their US counterparts . . .

What a maroon! On the other hand, it's sort of impressive that he didn't hit anything with the right hand end of the lumber.

Why does it seem every car in Russia has a dash-cam?

Toejam: probably cell-phone camera on a newest generation smartphone.

Toejam, I've read that many cars in Russia sport a dashcam (though this one appears to be handheld, probably a smartphone) to help prevent insurance fraud.

Check out this compilation! "Almost 10 minutes of car crashes in Russia. Red lights, dumb driving and more. How do some get their drivers license anyway? A lot of people drive with a dashcam to prevent insurance fraud."

Makes sense I guess. Those Ruskis are pretty sneaky.

I don't have a cell phone yet, but when I pick up this month's supply of food stamps they tell me I can have one for free.

Never turned down anything free.

Hey. I've done that.

But it was with a fairly large American car, and I put the boards in the back driver's side window, and out the front passenger side.

I only had about a three foot overlap on either side, which is quite manageable.

I see a marketing opportunity. Have they never heard of that wonderful invention - the roof rack?
