Let's not forget that today, July 18th, 2009, marks the 40th anniversary of the death of Mary Jo Kopechne at the hands of Ted Kennedy in the so-called Chappaquiddick Incident. For those who may not remember or know much about it, the last link will give you the details.
The fact that Massachusetts voters have continued to elect Ted Kennedy to office ever since the Incident speaks volumes about that state's residents - volumes that do not redound to their collective credit. The news of Kennedy's cancer last year left me cold. He's never faced justice for Chappaquiddick: in fact, the record shows a consistent and cynical use of his family influence to bury and obfuscate the details.
Perhaps a higher tribunal than any on Earth will soon exact justice for Mary Jo Kopechne's death. This observer, for one, certainly hopes so. Meanwhile, let's remember the soul of Mary Jo Kopechne in our prayers.

This story didn't even make it in the local paper today.
One has to wonder if this event would have gained more traction back in '69 if the world's attention wasn't riveted on Apollo 11.
He is getting ready to face the man upstairs, and I hope Mary Jo is standing at God's right hand when he arrives...
I was a Teddy Kennedy fan at this time. I was also recovering from
my wounds in a field hospital in
Nha Trang, when I heard of this
incident. I couldn't believe that
the last of this line would go down
in such ignominious flames. What a
disappointment to the Kennedy legacy.

It seems that the elitists have taken
over and Teddy remains the "Lion" of
the Democrat Party. What did the
Kennedy's have to do to avoid the
consequences for this accident. It
seems that Joe was always bailing
out somebody, but this time it was
not funny or cute, or forgivable.
