Sporty!
Readers digging out from beneath the record snowfall in Boston might want to give this beauty a look, if it ever makes it to production status.
It's the Snow Crawler concept vehicle from Mindsailors. You can read more about it here. It certainly looks sporty. It's one kind of electric vehicle I'd gladly buy, if I lived somewhere with enough snow to make it worthwhile.

Color me skeptical about the electric power plant. Batteries do not like cold weather, and taking this out in (say) Minnesota would test the charge capacity when the temperature is in the negative digits.
I'm not sure who is going to buy this. Today's high-end snowmobiles have heated grips and have high capacity alternators to power heated outerwear for the rider and passenger.

I agree w Borepatch, batteries and cold do not mix well.
Go back to a combustion engine (gas or diesel) and if you make the tread layout an equilateral triangle you would have a tread drive that could dig itself out like a paddle wheel boat if the snow was too soft..
