Not quite accurate, but I still laughed out loud

Last I'd heard the common wisdom is that most oil and natural gas deposits began as algae.
Apply enough heat, pressure, and time and you have crude oil.
Seems to be a good bit of research going on to duplicate the process on a vastly reduced timeframe.
Oil reserves seem to be much greater than first assumed, but it's still a finite resource. If we don't figure out how to reliably and dependably replace fossil fuels eventually things are going to get very dark and cold.
