What's in a (festive) name?

I had to laugh at this unlikely wedding news from England.

Tilly Christmas and Kieran White, who met at school aged 12, married at the Roman Baths in Bath on Tuesday.

Mrs White-Christmas, 20, said: "I wanted to keep the name going. It just so happens the man I am marrying has the perfect surname to go with it."

. . .

Business student Mrs White-Christmas said: "It took us time to twig that our surnames came together as White-Christmas.

"We first realised at our secondary school prom when our friend uploaded pictures to social media using #WhiteChristmas."

There's more at the link.

Worth the change of name, I'd say!  Of course, they're going to have to name their first son "Bing", after the singer who made that Christmas carol famous (it's still the world's best-selling single by a very large margin).

In Illinois, there is a town named Normal and a nearby town named Oblong. Being not far apart, their denizens sometime mingle with each other. The editor of one hometown newspaper said he waited years before his paper could legitimately print the headline "Normal man marries Oblong woman". Ha!

Lucky for the groom that he didn't marry a lady named Power, or they'd both be tossed in the gulag.

Robert: Iowa did it better. There are the towns of Manly, IA and Fertile, IA. Thus, eventually, someone got to write:

Manly Man Weds Fertile Woman.
