This year's flu season appears to have arrived with a vengeance. My wife was down with it most of last week, and I'm showing signs of it this week; and we have friends and acquaintances who are fighting the bug as well. It appears to affect the stomach as well as the sinuses and lungs, so that nausea sometimes accompanies the congestion. It's no fun at all. Our local clinic reports being overwhelmed with cases.

My whole family has been fighting a stomach bug for an entire week. Half the people I know in real life got it just as bad.
I have many friends out of state who have had the flu worse than they can ever remember.
Is it possible that they destroyed the majority of the population's immune system and that makes us all vulnerable to viruses that would have otherwise been stopped dead in their tracks?

We're not seeing much of it, compared to an average year, and we're testing for it regularly.
I got it right before TG. Knocked me out for 4 days. 2-3 wks later, energy was still low with some cough left.
I had a cold and the cough lingers a couple weeks later. I am generally missing about 6 to 10 students each and every day though, so that may be the flu sweeping through. Or it may be kids staying home because they don't want to go to school because Covid broke them.
We have had this, and since we are all unvaxxed, we shook it off in a few days.

So far, thankfully no. One day a-bed with fever this week, weak as he'll, but no nausea. Being semi-hermatic, dunno if it's just lack of exposure. Flu shots are a no-go, since they are getting g mixed with the Clot-Shot, you can't be sure what you're getting....

I know a few that have gotten it, usually after getting the flu shot. Another thing I noticed is the fools that went and got another covid shot got it not a week later.
I’ve been battling sinuses and a cough but don’t have it yet. My wife gets it every year. I don’t.
There’s a bit of proof around that the vax damages the immune system. Sure seemed to with my wife, who went and got boosted after I told her don’t and it’s stupid. Seems like she always has something wrong now.
I remember reading that we were on course for a worse-than-usual flu season, even without taking WuFlu into account.
I allegadly had the Coof for a 2nd time right before thabks giving (rapid at home test). I slept for 3 or 4 days and was pretty much ok after that - no vaxx. Cold/flu simptioms, fever, body achs...
My wife had it for almost 2 weeks and the cough lingerd longer still - 1 vaxx.
Just a data point
1. Took the girl to get her checked for an earache yesterday. Line was so long we bailed. Fortunately her ear seems to have cleared up. I had to get a blood test too, and the phlebotomist said that her recent visit to the ER - for breathing issues - had a seven hour wait.
2. My kids are sick like crazy this year. They're not Jabbed (at least, they both swear they're not).
3. I've bad back-to-back-to-back colds. Ugh.
So far, neither I nor my dear wife (ages 73/74) have been ill with any upper respiratory or intestinal disease at all for the past three years. That is, no colds, flu or Covid, despite no "vaccines" of any sort, including no flu shots. We took prophylactic Ivermectin (bovine injectable solution) orally last two winters, plus D3, K2, C, D and B vitamins. We have not restricted our activities or contacts and have been in close proximity with family who had Covid and spent time in medical offices as well as a few trips to the ER for unrelated reasons (wifey has hypertension). I have no idea why we are seemingly impervious/immune to airborne viruses, but it is simply the case that we are. Not to say we might never come down with something, but so far, so good.
A wave of something swept through the local schools a couple weeks ago but didn't seem worse than usual, just a little early.
Winter is hitting early and hard here, which is bringing plenty of complaints that are short of the flu.
Had a bit of the stomach upset and loose stool for a few days, that's about it. I waltzed through all this Covid stuff with flying colors, no shots, no boosters, no panic. Just a well maintained immune system that has not been compromised by experimental potions. I did get what my doctor thought might have been Covid in early 2020. Took Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold and Cough for about a week, plus an occasional Aspirin for a light headache... that was it. Oh yes, I'll be 84 this coming March. (still no wheelchair, no walker, no cane) And no mask.
I live IN Oregon and was diagnosed at the ER with Type A influenza 4 weeks ago. Went in because I thought I had pneumonia. Was out of commission for two week and really struggled with coughing, fever and muscle aches. Can only remember feeling this bad in the 60’s when the Asian Flu hit the US. Finally had to be put on prednisone for the coughing. I’m almost 80 and this stuff really kicked my butt. I’m up and moving but still getting tired and short winded. FYI - I did not get vaxxed but only ended up with a mild case of the Omicron virus.
Wife's hospital in the PNW is being nailed with kids with RSV. Flu isn't on the radar.
The local public middle school here closed because so many people (students and staff both) were calling in sick.
Seems like an overreaction, but what do I know?
I personally haven't been feeling great for about a week, but I think that has more to do with too much sugar last weekend, and not enough sleep over the week, than any actual sickness.
Even if I were sick, treatment would consist of staying home and sleeping, and sipping rum or nano-silver solution, depending on symptoms. There's no point in going to the doctor for anything other than wound-repair.
I haven't heard boo about it. Don't know anyone whose had it. I'll have to check the news sometime to find out if I'm concerned. I'm well into Medicare so I did get a flu shot.
I talked to a nurse at the local clinic today here in the western UP of Michigan and she said "it is really taking off here. We have been getting very busy". ---ken
Everyone I know - and their friends - has been sick with something - symptoms vary, but often include nausea or fever, with or without coughing or a sore throat. It could've been Covid, the flu, or a common cold - who knows? So far I've managed to steer clear, despite close proximity to sick people (everyone in my household but me has been sick at least once this year - my normally healthy brother, four times). This includes peers 20-30 yrs. old as well as those younger and older.
The entire Intermountain West has been pretty hard hit as far as sickness goes. I'm given to understand that RSV has been passing through the kids like wildfire since before Thanksgiving.
After getting a mild case of Covid last year, I've only been sick once as far as I remember, though certainly I might be due for it soon. Hopefully not over Christmas . . .
Mostly its because of almost 3 years of no germs being spread thanks to everyone mostly self-isolating or only hanging around with a local crowd. Their immune systems got lazy.
Flu, no. I got my shot this year. I had COVID again a few weeks ago. It's a bigger ass-kicker than the flu--I had a 100+ degree fever for 3 days. The flu is usually a 24 hour misery.
No Flu to speak of here in the People's Republic of Rhode Island. Although RSV and Noro Virus are going around pretty bad. The pediatric hospital is swamped. 8 hour wait times and they are seeing patients directly from the waiting room. Much of it is due to staffing issues though
No sign of it in my social circle. Then again, I really haven't gotten sick much once my kids went off to college.
