The Romans didn't have heavy machinery, or computers, or even engineers per se... but they built roads that are still in use today, and not a pothole to be seen.

A while back there was a mention on Small Dead Animals that one Canadian province was undertaking a "program of de-bituminising"
I googled the spikefish because I was curious.
I discovered that another name for it is "Cavernous Ass-Fish."
I wish I hadn't done that...
