This was originally written about 25 years ago for USENET gtoups....it was true then, and it is no less true as you posted it.
People haven't changed.
I just realized that we've got a generation coming up to which a "lightbulb" is filled with LED's, and unless something is wrong it's probably going to outlive the light fixture.
