RV's, or eclectic residences on wheels?
I was fascinated to come across an article titled 'Rolling Homes' on the Earth Age blog. It's filled with photographs of what look like privately built RV's and travel trailers. The pictures appear to have been scanned from a print source, probably dating from the 1970's to judge by the vehicles, clothing and hairstyles. Here are a few to whet your appetite (all reduced in size to better fit this blog).
There are many more (and larger) pictures at the link. Interesting reading, particularly for those of us who remember the 'hippie generation' and their ethos of rejecting society and heading off to live 'at one with nature'. (Personally, I preferred indoor plumbing and anesthetized dentistry!)

Those look like pictures from the 1979 book Rolling Homes: Handmade Houses on Wheels by Jane Lidz
Looks cozy. I've always wondered how much work it would be to make my own trailer or camper and not have it look like Beverly Hillbillies.
