Headline of the week

From the BBC:

Scientists find clitorises on female snakes

Questions that come to mind:

  • Who the heck decided this was a worthwhile subject for scientists to investigate?
  • Who the heck poured money into this project - and why?
  • Now that they know, what the heck are they going to do with that knowledge?  Make vibrators for vipers?
Yea, verily, the mind doth boggle . . .

It was probably more of a 'hey-whats-that' during a dissection or health exam, followed by a hunt to see if new phenomenon was on all snakes, or just females, etc.

Ironic that the scientist making the discovery was a woman.
Probably male scientists had been looking for it but unable to locate it. :)

1) HOW DARE THEY ASSUME THOSE SNAKES' GENDERS!!!
How do they know they didn't discover clitorii on male snakes?

2) I'm willing to bet a number of snakes in the project were actually well-known actresses. The possession of genitalia by those reptiles is no great scientific discovery.

I have more. Don't tempt me.

NOW, they need a study of the snake's sex life, does it appreciate low lighting, Barry White and wine?
