A musical pun I couldn't resist

From Stephan Pastis yesterday.  Click the image to be taken to a larger view at the "Pearls Before Swine" Web page.

That was a groaner - but very funny, too!  To honor the cartoonist and his inspiration, here's the original piece as played at the "Concert for George", held to honor the composer after his death.

Warm memories to go with the smile.

You should also check out the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame version, with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison and Prince, where Prince provided an absolutely fantastic guitar solo. Up until I saw that clip I didn't consider Prince a guitar virtuoso, but he was really a very underrated guitarist...

The Muppet Show cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" may be one of the best ones.

Great cartoonist! This one, also music-related, is probably my all time favorite: https://www.gocomics.com/pearlsbeforeswine/2014/10/19

A pair of identical twins were separated at birth. One was adopted by a couple in Mexico. They named him Juan. The other ended up in the Mideast and was named Amal. The friends of the parents in Mexico asked "Aren't you curious to see Juan's identical twin brother?" The parents said No, not really. If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal..."

Paul McCartney said in the Rick Rubin interviews on Netflix that George Harrison started writing this song when George was 13 while riding the bus to their school in Liverpool. Paul said that George showed up with a guitar on the bus one day and they became friends at that point.

That's a great video, but IMHO, the one for the ages was the tribute at the R&R Hall Of Fame, with Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne, Harrison's son Danni, and Prince (!) crushing the solo with a performance worthy of any Hall Of Fame, and putting Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen to shame.

And, for me, the version that hits me the most is the version with George and Eric both from the 1991 Japan tour

It speaks to the song itself that we can get so many people reasonably disagreeing on which is the best version.
