Feel-good story of the week

Courtesy of a link at Zercool's place, we learn of a man who traced his father's service rifle, managed to buy and restore it, and had it presented to him at a formal ceremony.

You can read all about it at the link.

Please excuse me for a moment while I wipe my eyes.  Getting dusty in here . . .

I hope Dianne Feinstein, Piers Morgan, Michael Bloomberg and President Obama don't see this or they'll be pounding on this patriot's door demanding he surrender that deadly "assault weapon".

That's an incredible story. It's simply amazing the CMP actually had his rifle. It could have been anywhere in the world that Garands have been shipped.

I wish mine could talk.

And just look at those grins from the Soldier and Marine...

"This is my rifle.
There are many like it,
but this one is mine."

Dusty hell, someone set off a case of CS under my desk.

Scott, I *think* the MSGT on the right is the veteran's son that went on this mission. He recruited a very willing Marine sergeant to make the presentation.
