The list is painful even to read, much less experience!

I alternated between giggling and astonishment when reading Defector's article, "What Did We Get Stuck In Our Rectums Last Year?".  Here's an excerpt.

This is a tribute to American ingenuity, American perseverance, and above all else, American recklessness.

All reports are taken from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s database of emergency room visits, all descriptions are verbatim, and always remember that a flared base is your best friend.

The lists may be found at the link.  I really can't reproduce them here, thanks to the family-friendly nature of this blog - but be prepared to be amazed!  The article covers every human orifice, not just rectums, so there's plenty of room for imaginative idiots to do what should never be done.

My first wife worked in a hospital in central MI in the early seventies. An x-ray was passed around by staff of a light bulb way up in someone's colon

We lost a local television meteorologist when his escapade with a pickle - and removal - ended up being leaked by a local hospital. I don't know where he went, but I'm sure it's a long, long way from here.

I always enjoy the end of the holidays, when this article gets published. It's like coffee after a good dinner.
It makes me feel so... normal. Nothing up my bum, just me, living life perfectly fine with no loose change rattling around ye olde prison pocket, so to speak.

Toward the end of year one in Radiologic Technologist school, we were treated to a cavalcade of rectum-related foreign-body images. Oh my gawd what is wrong with people?
Remember, kids, osmosis being what it is,if that lid come off the salt shaker or the salsa, it may kill you.

That list is impressive, but it doesn't top (or is that bottom?) the item trapped in a Frenchman's rectum and removed in hospital in 2022.
