#16 is practically a news item. Within the last couple of weeks someone charged up their truck in Rock Springs, Wyoming planning to drive to Lander or, maybe, Riverton. Distance, 120 miles over South Pass. They didn't make it and the tow truck operator said it was the first EV that he'd ever seen.
I seem to recall that they made it 97 miles, which at least got them to cell phone coverage. There's probably a 50 mile stretch in South Pass between Farson (the one gas station on that route) and Lander with no cell reception. South Pass could be mighty lonely if it's just you, a broke car, and the wind.
Kinda reminds me of an article I have in an old book published on the (50th?) anniversary of the AAA about an early attempt to drive from one coast to the other (East-West), when there were no interstates, few reliable maps for long stretches, and they had to get repairs don at blacksmiths’ shops. Gas was usually bought at, if I recall, general stores. They’d get directions in each town for the best way to get to the next town West.

"What's your decorating style?"
"Early Post-Nuclear."
I was once told that my interior design style was "Someone threw a messy bomb into [local book store]." I did not deny the accusation.
@Sherm,
