Doofus Of The Day #358

Today's title goes to an over-enthusiastic Connecticut crook.

Connecticut police say a man who was at court to answer to criminal charges used a break in the hearing to break into several cars in front of the courthouse.

It happened at Rockville Superior Court. Rockville is east of Hartford.

Thomas Peno was at the court on larceny charges. Police say that during a break he went outside the court and started breaking into cars. He allegedly stole a GPS unit out of one car and apparently inadvertently tried to sell it back to the actual owner.

Judicial marshals at the court re-arrested Peno. He was being held on $25,000 bail.

It was Peno's 40th arrest.

I can only assume Mr. Peno really, really wanted to draw a long sentence from the judge. For the life of me, I can't think of any other reason why, when about to be tried on one set of charges, he'd add another set before the court's even in session!

If he has been arrested 40 times he has probably committed similar offenses more than 400 times.

He probably thought that he wouldn't get caught.

Can you say "reprobate"?
