Two great videos from NASA

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, or LRO, has been in orbit around the Moon for 1,000 days. During that time it's been hard at work mapping and photographing the Lunar surface. To mark the occasion, NASA has released two videos (combined into a single video below for ease of viewing). The first shows how the moon evolved into what it is today, while the second takes us on a 'guided tour' of some of the moon's major features. They make very interesting viewing. I highly recommend watching in full-screen mode.

Kudos to NASA for what looks like it'll turn out to be one of the agency's most successful missions. With luck, it'll pave the way for a permanent base on the lunar surface at some time in the future (if entitlement programs don't leech away the funds required for it!).
