20 Clues To Mr. Right

It seems that English ladies have a fairly demanding set of standards for what they want to see in a prospective mate. They've come up with a list of 20 attributes:

1. At least 5' 10" tall.

2. Good looking (subjective, I know).

3. Weight around 175 pounds.

4. Earns more than (the British equivalent of) $60,000.

5. Blue eyes.

6. Short dark-brown hair.

7. Medium build.

8. BA degree.

9. Never been married.

10. No children.

11. 3 previous serious relationships.

12. Clean-shaven.

13. Drives a silver Mercedes.

14. Enjoys cinema.

15. Likes eating out.

16. Has had fewer than 6 sexual partners.

17. Owns a $600,000 home (at current exchange rates).

18. Doesn't smoke.

19. Dislikes soccer (the English call it football).

20. Likes pets.

I don't do too well on that list . . . no better than 7 out of 20. How do you score, guys?

The best I can do is a five...and that's if I fudge a little in my interpretation of the questions.

I guess it's a good thing I'm not English.

With those standards, I bet there's a lot of lonely English ladies over there.

About 14...
No wonder I'm still single. Then again, I'm not Brittish.

What a bunch of demanding Bi+ches!

Are these "Ladies" all Beautiful, well educated, earning comparable salaries, have perfectly proportioned bodies, no facial flaws, own their own homes, never married, no children, and have sparkling personalities and [sorry for the crudeness] are able and willing to suck tennis balls through garden hoses? Because with standards like theirs', that's the ONLY way they are ever gonna get married, maybe.

I came up 8 out of 20 and I'm an American, so I guess the Missus has no reason to worry.

I got 1, 2, 10, 11, 15, 19, and 20.
Not that kind of "eating out"? okay, drop # 15. But I hate football & soccer both, so do I get extra credit?

I managed about 10 points, but I'd be willing to try to like soccer or something to get that number down if it'll keep more of that breed of bimbo away.

Eight. And that's only if we count good-looking.

I scored a four...SAFE!!

Well, I got nine points for sure, but there's several bigtime deal breakers there. But if they want to be that way, there's no way I'd want to be married to them.

I got four.

I get 12/20. Not really sure I'm interested, though.

9/20 here..... strangely enough, I'm happily married with a family despite my many failings.........

10 here, but my sweetie seems pretty happy. I should email it to my 28 & 23 yr old daughters and see what they think of these "clues"...

Amy says I meet 15 out of 20, but I think she's being generous.

9/20, but back when I was considered eligible I had to trade income for hair. OTOH when I was single, the dollar was worth more.
Keep in mind that this list is for Prince Charming and the Complete Fairy Tale, there is doubtless some lesser score that designates "acceptable" AKA Mr. 'You look like you'll do'.
I bet we could have some fun coming up with a short list of minimum qualifications.

1. Pulse and respiration.
2. Understands use and operation of shower and laundry.
3. Held steady employment for the last 12 months.
4. Not currently wanted or wearing an ankle bracelet.

There are doubtless others, but this is a minimum qualification list.

People in law enforcement, EMT, and correctional folks could probably put together a short list of red flags too.

About 10 of 20 for me. For the life of me I can't figure out how you afford a $600k house on a $60k income???

"For the life of me I can't figure out how you afford a $600k house on a $60k income???"

15 year or 30 year mortgage... effectively, you don't afford it because you're in debt over your head for the rest of your life.

4 - including not liking soccer. I'm American, fer Gawd's sake..

9 out of the 20 for me but then I'm an old fart and material things mean little to me.

"...but then I'm an old fart and material things mean little to me."

I read a Wikipedia article a few months back that dealt with narcissism... it basically said that excessive caring about material things is a sign of a serious mental problem. Competing for material things is boosting one's own ego just to look better to others because one is in love with one's own image. Take that for what it's worth.
