A violent but entertaining short movie

A small outfit calling themselves Oddball Animation has produced an interesting short film called 'Ruin'. It's set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian future, and depicts the conflict between a human survivor and an automated security robot. It obviously draws heavily on ideas from such works as the 'Terminator' movie series, 'The Omega Man' and other sources, but it stands on its own in the way it puts its story together.

Watch it for yourself, and see how you like it. I recommend viewing it in full-screen mode. (If you have any trouble with the Vimeo-linked version below, there's another available on YouTube.)

I found it entertaining. The animator's Web site has a page devoted to explaining how the film was made, and how the various computer graphics sequences were developed and integrated. It's worth visiting if you'd like to know more about the movie's technical background.

Congratulations to Oddball Animation on an interesting effort. I look forward to seeing some of their other projects soon.

I guarantee that my 11 year old grandson would love this, for 11 seconds.

The level of detail is quite impressive! Hopefully we'll get to enjoy lots more from these guys.
