Last night I put up a picture of my wife's new purple AR-15 rifle. In a comment to that post, John in Philly asked whether I remembered the song 'Purple People Eater'. Of course I do, John (at least now that you've reminded me of it) - it's as old as I am! I think you just named Miss D.'s rifle.
For those whose memories don't go back that far, here it is.

I was thinking of calling it Iris.
