Doofus Of The Day #266

Today's Doofus is from Sweden.

A man walked into a jeweller's shop in Falkenberg in western Sweden and tried to sell some stolen valuables back to their former owner.

The jeweller, Carl-Fredrik Forsell, was able to act as if nothing was in the least bit out of the ordinary despite having been offered his wife's jewellery which had been stolen from their home the night before.

Forsell asked the unsuspecting 54-year-old fence to return the following day when he would have time to value the items promising him that he would receive a couple of thousand kronor.

He then called the police.

"I noticed immediately that it was my wife's jewellery. I actually shouted 'bingo!' when the man had left" Forsell told Hallands Nyheter.

But before the hapless 54-year-old could return to sell the jewellery police had managed to arrest the man, and his 46-year-old accomplice, who it emerged had carried out the raid on the couple's home.

I love it! Clearly, burglars should check on what their victims do for a living before trying to fence their loot!

No, they shouldn't check up. Criminals should stay dumb, otherwise how could we laugh at them?
