More professional artistry

In the light of the very fancy firearms portrayed in an earlier article today, this video clip of a secretary cabinet made for King Frederick William II of Prussia is a fitting way to end the day.  It was made by Abraham and David Roentgen, master cabinetmakers of the 18th century.  It's a remarkable combination of craftsmanship and artistry. I recommend watching this video clip in full-screen mode, if possible.

The cabinet is currently owned by a museum in Berlin.  I shudder to think what its value must be today!

Amazing piece, and more amazing that it has survived...
