Well, what did they expect?

I'm cynically amused by the indignation of the Vermont State Police over the ingenuity of prison inmates.

Inmates working at a Vermont correctional unit's print shop managed to sneak a prank image of a pig into a state police crest that is emblazoned on police cars, and 30 cruisers sported the design for the last year, officials said on Thursday.

The official crest depicts a spotted cow against a background of snowy mountains, but the inmates' version featured one of the cow's spots shaped like a pig in an apparent reference to the pejorative word for police, state police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said.

"It dishonors the memory of those past and present members, especially for those who have lost their lives in the line of duty," Dasaro said.

There's more at the link. Here's a video report with more details.

Uh . . . guys, if you were responsible for arresting and locking up some or all of the inmates concerned, why on earth did you trust them to produce something like police car decals for you? Surely anyone with half a brain might have suspected they'd be tempted to get a bit of their own back? Sorry, I can't share your indignation. This is too funny for that!

I wonder if that particular prisoner is going to be subject to retaliation for what he's done? I would hope not, but human nature being what it is...

What are those three little gnome like characters on the left side of the pic?

Steve, I wonder if they are supposed to be wheat stacks. Several states have them and it takes work to get them to look like, well, fancy stacks of wheat.

I admire the little piggy - it really is well done. And sorry, not much sympathy for the VT police, either.

Heh. I'm definitely not on the inmate's side, but you know, somebody ought to send that guy a pack of smokes in recognition of his talent and ingenuity. :-)

I think it is hilarious that not one of those troopers looked at his door as he got in his unit! It's not as thought there is a lot to look at in the first place. With any luck that trustee is long gone.
And, please don't misunderstand, I come from a law enforcement family. But this is just too funny. It probably wouldn't be if I lived in VT. :)

Is this a case of lie down with swine and get up with pigs?
