What's in a name?

Err . . . quite a lot of words and letters, apparently!

A teenager has claimed to have the longest name in the world - Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash Combined.

Captain Fantastic - formerly George Garratt - changed his name by deed pool 'for a bit of a laugh' through the Legal Deed Poll Service which charged £10 for the legally-certified deed poll.

Captain Fantastic, a 19-year-old music student from Glastonbury, Somerset, said his name beat the Guinness Book of Records' longest personal name registered on a birth certificate by 24 letters.

Unfortunately for Captain Fantastic, he seems to have been outdone by an English girl.

Most people make do with one or two middle names – but one toddler has 25.

Autumn Brown, who has just celebrated her first birthday, was named after boxing champions as part of a family tradition.

She had a special cake made for her but the 70 party guests needed to take a deep breath to sing her happy birthday.

Autumn's full middles names – Sullivan Corbett Fitzsimmons Jeffries Hart Burns Johnson Willard Dempsey Tunney Schmeling Sharkey Carnera Baer Braddock Louis Charles Walcott Marciano Patterson Johansson Liston Clay Frazier Foreman – were passed down from her mother Maria, who was given them by her boxing-mad parents.

Autumn's aunt Becky is named after 34 British heavyweight boxers and her uncle Brian after 42 bare-knuckle fighters.

Ms Brown, from Perton near Wolverhampton, said she hoped her daughter would grow up to love her unusual names.

'I did it for her nan and grandad as they gave me my names,' she added.

All I can say is, I hope the young lady finds it possible to forgive her parents - and grandparents - when she grows up!

Peter
